Ashley wore a silk charmeuse Empire-waist Vera Wang gown, which she had altered to create a deep V-back. “My two best friends and my mom went with me to a Vera Wang sample sale in Chicago, where we waited in line for hours. I didn’t go expecting to find the dress, but I did!” Ashley exclaims.

The bride carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas, roses, freesia, and mini calla lilies, while the bridesmaids carried similar bouquets with pink and green floral accents.

The reception was held on a shady green lawn at the nearby Cottonwood Inn Bed and Breakfast, just a few miles from the ceremony site.  “We wanted things to be stylish but not stuffy,” Ashley says. “The Cottonwood was the perfect place.”

As high school sweethearts who’d grown up in the same county and gone to school together all their lives, Ashley Gallivan and Clint Martin took a risk fairly early in their relationship. After dating in high school, the couple went off to separate colleges, several hours apart. “We always set aside time for each other on the weekends, but the weekdays were for our personal time -- when we could get stuff done and continue growing as individuals,” explains Ashley, now an elementary school teacher.
