Bridget (a 30-year-old furniture account executive) first met Frank (a 29-year-old construction worker) after work at the Post Bar in Novi through a mutual friend. The two immediately hit it off. After a conversation-filled first date at Matter of Taste in Commerce, Bridget and Frank started seeing each other exclusively, doing everything together and getting to know each other’s friends, family, and eccentricities—including Bridget’s forgetfulness. One Sunday morning five months after their first date, Frank picked up Bridget on their way to meet his parents for lunch in Frankenmuth. “Frank asked if I had everything,” says Bridget. “When I told him I did (I even went through a checklist), he said, ‘No, I think you’re still missing something.’” His insistence puzzled her at first, until he dropped to one knee and pulled out that little something she’d been missing: an engagement ring. The pair was married in an intimate, red-hued wedding eight months later.
