Cari designed the programs to match the invites -- the programs were rolled like scrolls, tied with sheer olive ribbons, and displayed in a rustic basket.

The bride carried a nosegay of russet-colored Leonidas roses (one of Cari’s favorite flowers) and red hypericum berries. The bouquet was tied with a strip of champagne satin from Cari’s dress.

The tented reception space was decorated with large white lanterns. The tables were covered with champagne-colored satin linens and complemented with chocolate-colored satin chair covers.

The couple danced to “Everything I Do, I Do It For You” by Bryan Adams.

“The dresses were inspired by an old-Hollywood glam feel,” Cari says. The Empire-waist dresses featured deep V-necks and a slight train in the back. “They were a deep mocha-pewter color, to accent the chocolate suits worn by the men,” Cari says.

Cari and Steve exchanged vows beneath a huppah in a rustic mission-style gazebo at the Pala Mesa Resort. The sound of a cascading waterfall just behind the gazebo added to the ambience of the natural setting.

The wedding cake was a family affair -- Cari designed the confection, and her grandmother baked it. The five-tiered cake was covered with champagne buttercream frosting, and every other tier was decorated with handmade gum-paste hydrangeas, which were made with lighter colors at the top ranging to deep rusts at the bottom.

Steve would readily admit that he’s not one for public displays of affection, but he was willing to make an exception for Cari. Cari and Steve met through mutual friends who were dating, and they soon began a relationship of their own. After Steve professed his love before everyone in attendance, he dropped to one knee, and Cari “immediately started bawling,” she says. Cari happily accepted, and two days later the couple had picked the site for their outdoor fall-inspired wedding.
