Towering redwood trees surrounded the amphitheater in the aptly-named Redwood Grove where the ceremony took place. Elisa and Michelle got married on a raised platform in the center marked by a simple arrangement of purple artichokes and dahlias and green bells of Ireland and bear grass.

The brides filled clay flowerpots with foam and then glued moss on top. They punched sticks in and attached the escort cards, embossed with flower stamps, by clothespins. The result: DIY masterpieces with the earthy vibe they were after.

Inspired by nature (and multiple designs they saw in their bakers' portfolio), the couple chose to decorate their cake with marzipan leaves and vines. The chocolate glaze frosting and square shape kept things current.

The DJ, Elisa's friend, played "Feels Like Home," by Chantal Kreviazuk, for the couple's first dance. For their last dance, Elisa and Michelle chose another slow song, Duncan Sheik's "For You."

A last name wasn't the only thing Elisa and Michelle had in common. They shared friends too and first met at a mutual pal's birthday party. They didn't get to talk much there, but Michelle got Elisa's email address. The two exchanged emails and Elisa came to Michelle's birthday party a week after they met. They went on their first date soon after.
