After photographs at a nearby stone chapel, the bridal party and family moved on to the reception at the Detroit Marriott Pontiac at Centerpoint.

Striking red flower arrangements in square vases graced every table, alongside charming photos of the bride and groom from the time they were 1 year old: “Table three had a picture of Andrew at age three and a picture of me at age three, and so on,” Erica explains.

Erica and Andrew designed their own cake, inspired by a combination of pictures they had seen. The four-tiered square cake featured fresh strawberries and three different fillings, and was presented alongside vases of red berries.

An 8-piece band -- and a fun-loving crew of friends -- kept the party going until the wee hours. “We were having so much fun that we were actually the second to last people to leave at 1:30 in the morning!” says the bride.

Erica Williams and Andrew Douglas probably came this close to meeting, long before they actually did. When a mutual friend introduced them during their senior year at Albion College, the couple realized that they had practiced on the same field every day (he played football, she played soccer) for years. “It was fate that we met at a time when we were both finishing up school and ready for a relationship,” Erica says.
