The ceremony took place at sunset, with the aisle decorated with two floral arrangements of large bamboo and orchid clusters set into white Lucite pillars.

Tall green shoots and bright pink orchids made for modern centerpieces at the long white reception tables. In lieu of the typical chiavari chair, the couple ordered sleek Bellini chairs to coordinate with the modern décor.

The menu cards, printed on silver paper in black font, doubled as place cards and were tucked into each napkin at the reception tables.

Jacalyn and Rio's red velvet wedding cake with cream cheese frosting was a three-tier confection covered with large silver polka dots and accented with bright pink orchids.

The couple's dog, Tyler, made an appearance at the wedding as the ring bearer. He sported a miniature tuxedo with an attached black bowtie and brass-colored buttons.

As Jacalyn puts it, she had woken up on the morning of May 13 and finally come to terms that her boyfriend of nine years, Rio was simply not going to propose that month. Jacalyn gave a teary "yes!" and the two celebrated the evening New York-style with dinner and a Broadway show. For their wedding, the couple looked everywhere for a loft space, and when they found Peter White Studios overlooking the Empire State Building, they knew their search had come to an end.
