Jennie and Dan decided the St. Regis Hotel was the perfect place to have their personalized wedding for 180 guests.

The Jewish ceremony had a combination of traditional and nontraditional elements. Surrounded by candlelight, Jennie’s father read seven traditional Jewish wedding blessings in Hebrew, and Dan’s mother read seven modern blessings the couple had written in English.

Jennie's wedding look was inspired by her love of vintage Hollywood.  Her glamor was evident in her silver open-toe sandals by Stuart Weitzman.

“Our florist, Michelle Rago, incorporated a lot of our story into her designs,” says Jennie. For example, the men’s boutonnieres featured blueberries, inspired by the couple’s love of Maine, where they spend as much time as possible.

“Because Dan and I love hiking, I wanted the flowers to be natural and a little bit wild, in contrast to the formality of the space,” Jennie explains. The reception took place on the St. Regis Roof at the top of the hotel, where the room was transformed into a secret garden, with vibrant citrus shades of green teamed with soft blue to match the ceiling, which is painted to look like the sky.

Five tiers of lemon pound cake filled with raspberry jam and covered in lemon buttercream were embellished with green and blue flowers to match the wedding colors.

Menu highlights included a first course of lobster salad, an entrée choice of halibut or rack of lamb, and a dark chocolate caramel dome with berries and petit fours for dessert.

A live band and a carefully edited musical repertoire kept the energy up and the dance floor packed throughout the night. One of Jennie's favorite highlights of the night was the hora. “I will never forget the look of sheer joy -- and a little bit of terror -- on Dan’s face!” says Jennie.

An adventurous duo calls for a bold proposal and a high-energy wedding to follow. And that is just what Jennie and Daniel (Dan) created for themselves. The Bride Jennie, 29, attorney The Groom Daniel (Dan), 29, physician The Date August 13 The fun-loving couple was engaged on the high seas: Dan wanted to surprise Jennie with a proposal that was both romantic and private. But in New York City, privacy is at a minimum, so he chartered a boat to take just the two of them around New York Harbor for dinner and a sunset cruise, where he got down on one knee.
