Lara and Mike's ceremony, held at the Chinese Room at Smith Tower, boasted a birds-eye view of the “Emerald City” from the wraparound balcony. “It was one of those picture perfect, clear, blue sky, fall days,” the bride remembers.

Lara’s four sisters and sisters-in-law were her bridesmaids. Lara asked them to wear any style dress they wanted, as long as it was in black. “We wanted everyone to be comfortable,” Lara says, “and not have to make room in their closets for another bridesmaid dress.”

Lara & Mike in Seattle, WA

Lara and Mike first met on a kayaking trip, but it was during Lara’s training for a triathlon that the endorphins really let loose. Mike, an ex-Ironman competitor, acted as Lara’s unofficial trainer, tuning her bike, giving her tips, and cheering her on from the sidelines. The Bride Lara Holman, 34 The Groom Mike Garritano, 31 The Date October 2 A year and a half later, on her birthday, Mike sent Lara on a scavenger hunt to places in Seattle that had special significance to them -- the well-planned birthday journey ended with the best present of all: a proposal.
