Peach-colored roses with a hint of purple thistle, which grows wild in the South, made up the majority of the bouquets. Rosemary was also used in remembrance of loved ones who could not be with the couple on their special day.

In the reception area, long, inviting tables were topped with the planters and flowers used during the ceremony, along with a few antique-style silver holders filled with more lush flowers.

Custom-designed floral planters (designed by the bride’s father, who is an architect) and draped fabrics helped define the ceremony and reception spaces and also decorated the altar area, where Leslie and Joby exchanged personalized traditional vows.

Fitting her wedding's enchanted theme, Leslie wore a strapless, pale gold ball gown with copper embroidery and a matching veil by Reem Acra. Leslie's bridesmaids wore strapless, dark green, long, A-line dresses with pleating on the skirts and a small train by Watters & Watters.

In keeping with the wedding colors, the four-tiered cake was iced with ivory, peach, and green-color buttercream and decorated with the couple's monogram and a floral swag design inspired by the embroidered swag on Leslie's gown. The yellow pound cake was filled with almond marzipan filling. "Almonds are good luck," says Leslie.

For Leslie and Joby, absence truly made their hearts grow fonder. The pair met by chance in Atlanta while Joby was serving in the US Army and stationed at Fort Benning. A friendship ensued, and soon Leslie and Joby were romantically linked. The Bride Leslie Stewart, 25, psychology student and riding instructor The Groom Robert (Joby) Shelton, 32, fire medic The Date September 24 Just three months later, Joby’s unit was called to the Middle East -- and it was there that he designed an engagement ring for Leslie, using his medical journal as a sketchpad. Upon his return to the States, Joby took his sketch to a local jeweler to have the ring crafted. He had originally planned for the elaborate proposal to happen during a visit to see his family in Oregon, but, while at the airport that day, he decided he couldn’t wait any longer and proposed right there in the terminal!
