David didn't make a great first impression on Melissa. The two met at a Halloween party -- he was dressed as a homeless person with a sign reading, "Homeless, Need Drink and Girl, God Bless." "I rolled my eyes and thought, What a stupid sign," says Melissa. "Then I noticed his gorgeous smile, and he kept staring at me, so I decided to go talk to him." After dating for over a year, David surprised Melissa with an engagement ring hidden at the bottom of her Easter basket. "We started to feel like the wedding was so far away, and we were just too excited to wait that long," says Melissa. They decided to have a short civil ceremony at the Douglas County Courthouse on the two-year anniversary of meeting each other and celebrate with a larger reception the following year.
