February 2 How they met is one of those serendipitous, New York-style twists of fate: Meri Capone and her friend, Amy Miller, were lucky enough to move into a perfect apartment in the city's Upper East Side. One week later, some of Amy's friends stopped by, Meri answered the door, and there stood Stephen Selver. "I opened the door and we have been together ever since," says Meri. Stranger still is that the great apartment used to be Stephen's, and Meri's new bedroom was Stephen's three years before. Eighteen months later, Meri pried apart a steamed clam at a popular seafood-and-sunset restaurant in the Hamptons to find a diamond ring inside. The newly engaged couple turned to Meri's friend, wedding planner Harriet Bleiman, for help in pulling together their celebration, set for only seven months away.
