Kate and Matt wanted to leave the ceremony space as simple as possible, as to not detract from the important of marriage. The ballroom at The Plaza Hotel happened to be white so it was the perfect blank canvas they were looking for. They kept things simple with white chairs, white orchids and a white carpet aisle runner.

Guests found their names and table assignments on tented cards with illustrations -- for the ladies and top hats for the men (couples’ cards had both).

Kate and Matt had 250 guests to accommodate so they got creative with their seating. Extended family say at traditional round tables and the couple's friends were placed at long banquet tables in the middle of the room.

Kate isn't a big lover of flowers but she did love how the bright fuchsia orchid popped agains the black-and-white linens on the dinner tables. Other parts of the room were accented with vases of feathers.

Kate bought the first dress she tried on. The Oscar de la Renta gown had layers of silk organza ruffles that matched the dress she wore to the pre-ceremony cocktail hour.

Kate + Matt

Kate and Matt wanted to throw an all-night party. They also wanted the night to feel like a rollicking supper club out of the 1920s. The Bride Kate Bernstein, 32, MTV producer The Groom Matt Stein, 35, Spike TV editorial director The Date May 16 The result: a black, white and fuchsia affair that lasted until three in the morning. Speakeasy-like lounge areas were set up throughout the space and picture books from the era were on hand to take guests on a trip back in time.
