*NEW* Amy & Curt: A Cool, Casual Celebration in Poulsbo

by Allison Micarelli

Amy Kilbridge and Curt Thompson share a love of adventure and the outdoors. They dated for two years when Curt proposed during a romantic surprise trip to a secluded hot springs up in the mountains. And when it came time to pick the perfect spot for their nuptials the natural beauty of Kiana Lodge, on the Puget Sound, was the ideal location for their casual celebration.

The Date September 17

Ceremony and Reception Site "The setting was really breathtaking, surrounded by the water, beautiful trees and landscaping, and a natural wood lodge and atrium," says Amy. Kiana Lodge (206) 282-4633, Poulsbo

Photography "We chose Teddi because we felt we really got to know the people we saw in her sample albums as we looked through them," says Amy. "She was very unobtrusive and we got great formal as well as candid shots." Teddi Yeager Photography (206) TeddiYaeger.com, Bothell

Officiant Amy's uncle presided over the ceremony. "We wanted somebody who knew us well, and we knew that he would do an excellent job," Amy says.

Gown The bride wore a cream-colored strapless A-line gown with a train. "I thought it was simple yet elegant because of the fabric and flow." Marisa Collection, purchased at The Bridal Garden (425) 889-2151, Kirkland

Veil Amy's mother-in-law made her veil. "She's a quilter and very talented with needle and thread!" says Amy.

Shoes "I got a serious bargain on my shoes," says Amy, who found satin sling backs by Nina, which she had dyed to match her dress. She bought them for $14 at Nordstrom. (206) 628-2111, Seattle

Hair Kenneth L Salon & Spa (360) 779-3993

Makeup "Never a very high-maintenance girl, I wanted a very natural look," says Amy. "So I did my own, following a trip to the Clinique counter the week before." Nordstrom

Bridesmaid Dresses "I wanted bridesmaid dresses that could be worn again for another purpose, so we purchased black strapless cotton dresses with a touch of stretch from Banana Republic online, and dressed them up with bright red pashmina scarves from Nordstrom."

Formalwear Curt wore a black Calvin Klein suit and a Hugo Boss tie. To fit the casual atmosphere of the wedding, they selected shirts from Banana Republic online and ties from Kenneth Cole for the groomsmen and Amy's brother, who served as the man of honor.

Invitations "I designed and made the save-the-date cards and invitations," Amy says. "It was a lot of work, but we wanted to use images of the northwest that would carry over into little touches at the wedding. We selected a round salmon motif to be the centerpiece of all our printed materials." Materials purchased from Paper Source, Paper-Source.com

Flowers "My aunt and her friend did the flowers, using a lot of local flowers, including a lot of red dahlias, which are my favorites in late summer." Rebecca Raymond, Sunnybrook (206) 463-6613, Seattle

Catering The menu highlighted Pacific Northwest ingredients, especially Northwest salmon and seafood. Kiana Lodge

Cake Amy Slater (360) 337-1197

Music Ceremony: Julian Catford, guitarist (206) 546-5487, Seattle; reception: Lion's Gate Records (206) 568-5446, Seattle

Honeymoon "Due to our hectic schedules around the time of our wedding, we have postponed our honeymoon to celebrate our first anniversary," says Amy. They're now busily planning their trip to Greece and Turkey!
