There’s a reason all-inclusive getaways are so popular with honeymooners: With everything taken care of up front, all you have to do is relax and enjoy each other. And thanks to its beautiful beaches and sunsets, delicious food and plenty of history, wildlife and culture, Mexico is one of the most popular newlywed destinations. But how do you decide between numerous resorts that all look like paradise? While each Secrets and Zoëtry resort offers Endless Privileges and Unlimited Luxury, there are a lot of differences among them. That’s why it’s important to think about the type of vibe you’re looking for. Maybe you want to get away from the crowds with a quiet, intimate experience, or having plenty of options when it comes to dining is a priority (in that case, check out the Sip, Savor and See experience, which gives you evening access to nearby participating resorts). To help find your ideal honeymoon home base, we’ve rounded up our favorite all-inclusive resorts in Mexico for every vacation style.

  1. If you want an intimate island escape: Zoëtry Villa Rolandi Isla Mujeres Cancun

Zoëtry Villa Rolandi Isla Mujeres Cancun beachfront

Don’t want to spend your honeymoon with hundreds of other couples? With just 35 rooms and its own private beach, the boutique-style Zoëtry Villa Rolandi on the island of Isla Mujeres could be just what you’re looking for. You’ll board a private yacht in Cancun for a 25-minute cruise across sparkling turquoise waters—the perfect way to transport yourselves into honeymoon mode. During the day, snorkel through the nearby MUSA Cancun Underwater Museum of Art, kayak and zip-line in Garrafon Natural Reef Park, or go on a short hike to a nearby turtle farm sanctuary, where the endangered species come to lay their eggs. At night, dine at either of the property’s two gourmet restaurants—Casa Rolandi for Swiss-meets-Northern-Italian fare, or Le Métissage for a seven-course French-Mexican fusion tasting menu—followed by a nightcap at the aptly named Cozy Bar.

  2. If you want a best-in-class beach—and service: Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun

    Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun

You really can’t go wrong when it comes to the beaches along the Yucatán Peninsula, but Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun is home to a particular stretch of shoreline that’s often referred to as one of the world’s best. Head out at sunrise for a complimentary kayak tour on the crystal-clear Caribbean Sea before returning to the pristine white sand, where thatched huts offer shade. With beachside wait service to take care of your food and drinks, the only reason you’ll want to move is to cool off with a dip in the calm water. When you do head back inside, relax on your private terrace or enjoy swim-out pool access from select rooms. With an expansive 500-acre all-suite property, the AAA Five Diamond (a exclusive designation given to the top hotels across North America) resort is a luxury experience like no other.

  3. If you want a spacious and scenic stay: Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancun

    Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancun

Located a convenient 15-minute drive from Cancun International Airport, the Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancun resort boasts the largest suites in the Riviera Maya, including three over-the-pool cabana honeymoon suites. Each bungalow has Caribbean sea views with direct access to a private plunge pool and stairs into one of the resort’s large pools. But there’s also plenty to do when you’re ready to leave the room (it is your honeymoon, so no judgment!). Break from the convenience of 24/7 room service at one of the property’s 10 gourmet eateries, watch nightly entertainment in the open-air theater, join a complimentary bike tour to the nearby town of Puerto Morelos, or go on a tequila tour of the resort’s eight bars (we just don’t recommend combining those last two).

  4. If you want an active waterfront: Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya

    Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya

Step off the white sand beach to swim, kayak, paddleboard and snorkel in calm waters among endangered sea turtles in a historic area that’s literally named for them. (Akumal, the city where the new Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya resort is located, translates to “Place of Turtles” in Mayan, the region’s native tongue.) Enjoy spectacular ocean views from your private balcony or any of the three large pools—some suites even have their own private plunge pools or swim-out access to one of the resort’s 11 smaller, more private pools. With nine restaurant options, seven bars and lounges, nightly entertainment and fire pits, the energy only increases when the sun goes down.

  5. If you want serene ultra-luxury: Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita in Riviera Maya

Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita in Riviera Maya

Hidden among acres of wilderness, the secluded AAA Five Diamond Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita resort is located within a protected national park and looks out over 670 yards of white sand beach. The boutique property houses 100 beachfront suites, including the new villa-inspired Impressions suites, which have their own plunge pools and outdoor showers. With Zoëtry’s focus on relaxation and romance, you’ll feel like a VIP with complimentary inclusions such as a catamaran sunset sail and private butler service. You also won’t want to miss the pool at the property’s seawater-centric Thalassotherapy spa, the first of its kind in North America.

  6. If you want nonstop entertainment: Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta

    Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta

Set on the shores of Banderas Bay minutes away from the bustling “El Malecon” boardwalk in the heart of Puerto Vallarta, the resort has luxury amenities and a happening vibe to keep you entertained at all hours of the day. Soak up the sun—and keep an eye out for breaching whales—from the infinity pool, or take part in beach activities. At night, enjoy movies on the beach, live entertainment and theme parties, or stroll along the boardwalk to explore the local nightlife. Guests also have full access to the facilities, activities and restaurants and bars at Now Amber Puerto Vallarta, where you can play your cards right at the newly-opened casino—the first hotel in the city to offer one on site.

  7. If you want concierge-style service: Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun

    Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun

At this AAA Four Diamond award-winning resort, every suite is given “Preferred Club” access to a 24-hour concierge service, which means you’ll get personalized attention whether you’re at the beach, pool or in your room. With the romantic Mediterranean-inspired accommodations complete with private balconies and jetted whirlpool bathtubs as your home base, you can explore the beaches and lush, tropical surroundings. When you need a break from the sun, the resort also offers cultural experiences and classes where you can practice yoga, brush up on your photography skills, join an interactive cooking demo or test your wine knowledge.

  8. If you want world-class golf with a view: Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa Resort

Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa Resort

Set in an exclusive gated community only 10 minutes from downtown Cancun, the all-suite Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa Resort is great for those looking to spend time among the surrounding greenery—both on the golf course and off. Explore the local flora and fauna in the two protected areas the hotel calls home, then take advantage of one complimentary twilight round per day at the scenic Greg Norman signature 18-hole course. When you’re not hitting the links, get pampered at the Secrets Spa by Pevonia, a 16,000-square-foot spa with hydrotherapy and indigenous treatments, or spend time at the resort’s two large pools and private beach. Guests also have access to the facilities at the new Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa Resort next door, including the Delphinus Dolphin Habitat.

  9. If you want oceanfront opulence: Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf and Spa Resort

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort

Set along the Baja desert and the Sea of Cortez in a luxury resort community, the 500-suite Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf and Spa Resort was designed to highlight the stunning views in every direction. (You may even spot a whale during the winter!) With access to three miles of beautiful beachfront, two nine-hole pro-designed golf courses, and an art-filled walkway leading to a marina for world-class fishing, you’ll never be short on new vistas to discover. Enjoy the sunset from your private balcony or on the sand, where you can toast your newlywed status with a tropical drink at Barracuda Beach Bar.
