From the little red box that her engagement ring had rested in to the berry and pink roses that flooded the reception space, Jackie and Jason autumn wedding was infused with a theme that harnessed the dramatic sentiments of love. LONG-DISTANCE LOVE Jackie met Jason in Maine the summer after she had completed her first year at the University of Michigan. "I was working there as a musical theater performer playing Zaneeta Shinn in The Music Man. Jason was a maintenance guy," says Jackie. "At the end of August, I headed back to Ann Arbor and Jason headed on a road trip across the country. He ended that trip early to come and visit me." Over the next three years, Jason put 100,000 miles on his car traveling from his home in Cincinnati to visit Jackie at school in Ann Arbor or at home in Pittsburgh.
A MEAL PLAN After her graduation, the couple decided to move to the Big Apple together. Amidst one busy day's search for an apartment, Jason managed to pull off a romantic dinner at a hip Tribeca restaurant, where waiters took part in a staged proposal. "Two waiters dramatically lifted big silver domes from our plates," remembers Jackie. "I was looking at Jason's plate trying to figure out why there wasn't anything on it, and then I looked at my own plate and saw a little red box."
LADIES IN RED Not long after that night, seven bridesmaids in berry-colored taffeta dresses entered through St. Ignatius' doors, adorned with heart-shaped hydrangea wreaths, as friends of the couple sang "Seasons of Love" from the musical RENT. Jackie processed down the aisle to "Wedding March" from The Sound of Music, and then she and Jason would read their vows from scrolls.
RICH ROSES Following the Catholic ceremony, a celebration unfolded at a country club's terrace and ballroom. While guests murmured praise of the decorative beauty, including jewel-colored roses displayed in heart-shaped topiaries and floating in lotus bowls, Jackie and Jason took the dance floor to Etta James' "At Last." At the end of the evening, family and friends lined the stairs of the terrace and blanketed the newlyweds in berry rose petals as they made a quick escape to an old-fashioned limousine waiting outside.
