Jennifer & Adam: A Romantic Wine Country Wedding in Sonoma

by Allison Micarelli

Using the beauty of nature as the ultimate inspiration, Jennifer and Adam created a romantic theme for their late-autumn, wine country wedding.

THE BRIDE Jennifer Mallace, 30, an event planner
THE GROOM Adam Smith, 34, VP of marketing for an entertainment company
THE DATE October 26
THE SCENE The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa in Sonoma

To complement her Richard Tyler silk chiffon sheath, Jennifer chose a silk shantung skirt with ruffles and a beaded top in deep burgundy (purchased at Calypso in Los Angeles) for her sister, the maid of honor.

The flower girls -- dressed in pale pink skirts, plum ballet tops, and pastel pink ballet slippers (all from Calypso) -- looked especially sweet.

To romanticize the affair, Susan Lentini-Stewart of San Francisco fashioned centerpieces of roses, red pears, and grapes in wrought-iron vases with dangling crystals. An additional mood enhancer: burgundy votives in Moroccan-style candleholders surrounded each floral design.

The couple married outdoors, so to keep the décor au naturel they used a huppah made of birch. The huppah poles were placed in terra cotta pots overflowing with rich red roses, berries, and autumnal fruits, and the top was draped with burgundy linens.

Patisserie Angelica in Santa Rosa crafted a stylish four-tier confection of white cake with raspberry and chocolate ganache filling. Covered in white fondant, the cake was accented with red roses and amaranth flowers -- a garden wedding must-have.
