Even though Bridal Fashion Week won't be taking place in-person this season, it hasn't stopped wedding dress designers across the country from working their magic to produce new collections, and we couldn't be more excited about it. We caught up with bridal designer (and The Knot former cover model) Hayley Paige for a first look at her upcoming collections.

Paige, who is engaged and planned to get married in 2020 before COVID-19 impacted her wedding, has taken her experiences from this year and channeled them into her newest designs. Below, read about the inspiration behind her Spring 2021 collections and her advice for fellow couples whose weddings were also affected by the pandemic.

Designing Wedding Dresses During the Pandemic

It's no surprise that being a bridal designer comes with its own set of adjustments in a post-COVID society, but Paige has taken it in stride—and we could probably all learn a lesson or two from her optimism. "I've particularly embraced the intimacy of working from home in quarantine and outside of New York City," she says. "I was so used to one way of working and now I feel it's important to get out of those expected routines and be open to foreign stimulus. As a designer, it's so important to be aware of what works for you, but it's more important to realize that there is so much you know and haven't explored yet."

One important thing she's realized throughout the process? Always be open to adapting and innovating. "Development should not be confined to tried-and-true methods of the past," she says. "For the Hayley Paige collection in particular, I felt it was important to find a 'way to blossom' regardless of the circumstances, [to] stay true to my manifesto as a designer while also finding new types of stimulus. There have actually been less distractions for me and a lot more time to really explore new mediums. I sometimes find that when resources fall short, you can find abundance in being resourceful and self-reliant."

Her Best Advice for Engaged Couples

Whether your wedding was affected by the pandemic or you're recently engaged and wondering where to start, Paige shared a few words of wisdom to help you keep everything in perspective. "One of the best things that has come out of this year for me personally is the quality time I've spent with my fiancé," she says. "We've actively sought out little moments of joy that used to somewhat go unnoticed when 'things were normal.' We've also finally had the downtime and gumption to start our podcast All That Glitters, a dream we've shared since meeting each other. We actually dedicated an entire episode to what it's been like being an engaged couple planning a wedding during a global pandemic." (You can listen to the full episode on Apple Podcasts.)

Hayley Paige Spring 2021

Featuring rhinestones, embroidered lace and pearl beading, the Hayley Paige Spring 2021 wedding dresses are the perfect balance of delicate and dramatic. "This collection is about leaning into a disciplined gratitude and a reckless optimism; knowing no matter what the circumstances that courage, kindness and creativity will prevail," says Paige. "As much as we've seen struggle and faced challenges this year, we've also seen the fortitude and resilience of human character; an unwavering willingness to push forward and still find the ability to blossom. After all, the best things in life aren't actually things." Check out some of our favorite dresses from this gorgeous collection.
