Wedding Cake: Must Wedding Cake Be White?

by The Knot

Does our wedding cake have to be white?

No way! Wedding cakes have taken on lives of their own these days, and incorporating color is a great way to add some character to your cake. We've seen beautiful wedding cakes in every color of the rainbow. Some couples choose their cake color and decoration based on the time of year they are marrying. For example, if you will marry in the fall, a beautiful mocha wedding cake decorated with autumnal-colored sugar leaves makes a lovely seasonal statement. Or, in the spring, consider a light yellow fondant wedding cake with an array of pastel tulips! Cake designers are more than willing to sit down with you and come up with something that reflects your personality and taste. Often they will have photos of weddings cakes they've created in the past to help you get a good idea of their work. Remember: there are no boundaries; cakes aren't just white anymore, so don't be afraid to go for the purple, pink or yellow!
