Dana Covarrubias (30 and a costume designer) and Ronan Babbitt (28 and an actor and comedian) took DIY to the extreme at their wedding at the Boathouse in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York by planning and designing everything themselves-including Dana's wedding gown and accessories.

“Since we were having the wedding in New York and not in Texas where I'm originally from, it was important for me to incorporate some aspect of my Texas and Mexican culture into the design of the wedding," says Dana.

The couple pulled off their sophisticated bohemian theme with a glittery metallic color palette, plus cacti and succulent plant arrangements (made by the bride) to honor her Texas roots and Mexican heritage. For her look, the artsy bride rocked a wedding gown by BHLDN, with a long flowing skirt and crystal detailing. She topped off her whimsical style with loose waves and a subtle red lip.

As for hair accessories, instead of a traditional veil, Dana opted to make her own floral crown out of fresh greenery and baby's breath. “It was super easy to make, and only took about 20 minutes!" she says.
