Wedding Ceremony: How to Have a Non-Denominational Wedding?

by The Knot

My fiance and I do not practice any religion right now, but we would like to be married in a wedding chapel. There are no non-denominational chapels near our reception site, however. Do you know if any Protestant churches will marry people who are not officially members of their religion?

It varies largely from church to church, but many Protestant houses of worship are relatively open and may be willing to marry you, especially if you express interest in joining the congregation once you're married. Call several churches in the area to find out whether they marry nonmembers. Unitarian churches are usually very open to nondenominational ceremonies (and couples); you might want to start with them. You can often plan a quite personalized, even relatively secular Unitarian ceremony.
