Wedding Reception Etiquette: Place Cards at a Cocktail Wedding Reception?

Q: Is it appropriate to have name cards at place settings for a cocktail wedding reception?

A: No, it's really not necessary. By nature, a cocktail wedding reception involves people walking around, taking hors d'oeuvres off of tables and trays, and basically not sitting still. Guests should be able to take a seat anywhere they'd like, to chat with whomever they're hanging out with at that moment. Place cards might make them feel obligated to sit politely and not mix and mingle as much -- and hey, that's the point!

Wedding Reception Etiquette: Place Cards for Wedding Guests' Dates?

What's the correct way to write out reception place cards for single wedding guests with dates? I'm guessing “and Guest" doesn't fly here.
