After saying "yes" and celebrating the proposal together (it's really happening!), it's time to spread the word. And we don't need to tell you that a gorgeous Instagram post is the easiest way to announce your engagement to everyone at once—after telling your closest friends and family in person or by phone, of course.

So how do you choose the right setting for your big snap? The team at Brilliant Earth got curious: From what cities in US are newly engaged couples most likely to share their news on Instagram? Following the hashtag #shesaidyes and #engaged, they combed through more than 100,000 happy Instagram announcements, uploaded by couples during the height of proposal season (which lasts from Thanksgiving until Valentine's Day). You might be surprised to find that big players like Los Angeles and New York City aren't even on this lineup of ring-selfie-worthy hot spots. Here are the US cities most often geotagged in proposal Instagrams:

1. San Antonio, Texas

2. Bakersfield, California

3. Stockton, California

4. Wichita, Kansas

5. Albuquerque, New Mexico

6. Omaha, Nebraska

7. Toledo, Ohio

8. Baton Rouge, Louisiana

9. Tucson, Arizona

10. Fort Wayne, Indiana

Surprised by any of these locales? Or maybe you got engaged and took your own just-engaged photo somewhere on this list! Either way, it looks like you're most likely to see an engagement shared on Instagram from San Antonio—it might be time to dub it the new City of Love.

Brilliant Earth also decided to zoom in on its favorite US cities to find out where within them couples most often pop the question, snap and post. Spoiler alert: These popular urban areas are mostly outdoors, romantic and scenic—the perfect backdrop for a proposal or engagement post.
