Modern Meets Country

Randy Houser's wedding venue at Homestead Manor in Thompson's Station, Tennessee

We wanted the day to reflect both of our personal styles. I grew up in Melbourne, Australia, and Randy grew up in a small Mississippi town, so we have different backgrounds. We incorporated my modern taste with country elements to represent Randy's style. Our colors were gray tones and neutrals, plus marble and mixed metal details—particularly copper, which we also used in our invitation suite. I wore a custom gown by J'Aton Couture, and the wedding took place at Homestead Manor in Thompson's Station, Tennessee.

Copper Cheers

Randy's go-to drink that he takes on stage for every performance is a Moscow Mule—it only made sense that we had it as our signature cocktail. Guests' favors were the copper mule cups engraved with our monogram.

Sweet Ending

Half naked tiered vanilla cake with simple greenery

When we did the cake tasting, we were both 100 percent sure about the flavor we liked best: cream cheese pound cake with raspberry filling. The cake was five tiers, semi-naked and decorated with simple greenery.

Two of a Kind

We had two ring bearers: Randy's 4-year-old son, West, and our one-year-old goldendoodle, Hawk. West wore a gray suit, white shirt and black tie to match the bridal party, and Hawk wore a leaf collar. They were escorted down the aisle by one of Randy's groomsmen.

Stormy Weather

We had been watching the weather intently leading up to the wedding and it was pretty much guaranteed to thunderstorm on the day of. A big storm came through earlier in the afternoon and then the sun came out, so we thought we were in the clear. Just as I was about to walk down the aisle, some big clouds rolled in. And right as we were about to kiss, it poured. It wasn't what we had planned, but it was actually quite magical and something we and our guests will never forget.
