Ten years after meeting at a mutual friend's barbecue, Rudy came up with the idea of proposing to Julie during a photo shoot with their two dogs, Mochi and Mooshu. With the ring safely stashed in the photographer's camera bag, Julie and Rudy posed with their pups before Rudy stepped out of the shot to discreetly pocket the diamond. "Julie's eyes lit up when I got down on one knee," Rudy says. "She started to panic and repeatedly asked me what I was doing before she started to cry. After a good five minutes of tears, I asked 'So, is that a yes or a no?' " The ring: Richard Dolgin Private Jeweler

Lauren accidentally threw a wrench into Tom's sunset proposal when she insisted on swimming in the Gulf of Mexico just as Tom planned to pop the question. "I waded into the water in my clothes to encourage the woman I hoped to marry to come back to shore," Tom says. It was only when Lauren stepped on a fish that she decided she'd had enough ocean for the day. "I thought to myself, 'Thank you God for sending that blessed fish!' " Tom says of proposing in the sand as soon as Lauren made it back to shore—just in time to catch the end of the sunset. The ring: Knox Jewelers

Knowing Claire (right) would want a heartfelt proposal from her girlfriend of two and a half years, Melanie began planning a sentimental night that involved a homemade meal and plenty of sparkling rosé. Melanie prepared pizza and oysters in the couple's backyard oven, waiting for Claire to return home from work. When she did, Melanie gave her a cookbook, in which she had slyly added a new recipe detailing their relationship. As Claire flipped through the pages, Melanie presented a plate of Claire's favorite seafood. "Inside one of the oysters was a ring," Claire says. The ring: Custom, R.F. Moeller Jeweler

After dating for eight years, Chas planned a romantic proposal for Anna while vacationing in Boca Grande, Florida. One evening after dinner, the pair was discussing their future when Anna noticed that Chas was unusually nervous. "As we were getting up to leave, I turned around and he was down on one knee popping the question," Anna says. "I was so shocked and excited—it was the best day. Boca Grande is now a very special place for both of us." The ring: Thurston Jewelers

No detail was overlooked when Blake orchestrated his proposal to Kelsey, his University of St. Thomas college sweetheart and girlfriend of six years. The ruse was a fancy networking dinner, complete with limo transportation to the restaurant. But Kelsey didn't have a clue what was about to happen until the couple pulled up to Minnehaha Park. After a short walk, they came upon a handmade sign that read, "Marry me Kelsey—I love you." "I don't think I could say 'yes' to him fast enough," Kelsey says. "I still get a smile on my face every time I tell the story." The ring: Custom
