City-by-City Guide: Stylish Michigan Ceremony Sites

Gorgeous places to host your ceremony in Michigan.

1. City Sites

Modern romance unfolds at the state-of-the-art Max M. Fisher Music Center, a favorite of Laura Davis of Laura Davis Weddings in Berkley. Here, you can exchange vows in the soaring four-story Atrium surrounded by mahogany and limestone trimmings.

2. Orchard Opportunity

Bahle’s Cherry Orchard: It’s a little bit country and absolutely stunning. Run by wedding planners Kara Eskeli and Chandra Demers of Weddings, Inc. in Traverse City, the site offers ceremonies in a beautiful clearing surrounded by cherry trees with beautiful views of the Grand Traverse Bay.

3. Garden Charm

Host a garden party wedding at Genevieve’s Garden, a gorgeous natural setting that’s part of the Brook Lodge Hotel & Conference Resort at Michigan State University. Say “I do” amid the sounds of flowing water and seasonal flowers -- the perfect backdrop for a nature-inspired bride. (800) 407-8486

4. Museum Magic

Art lovers and history buffs alike can marry in the Meijer Auditorium in the Van Andel Museum Center at the Public Museum of Grand Rapids, where a 1926 Wurlitzer organ can provide your ceremony music.

5. Castle Dreams

Princess brides can make their fairy-tale wedding dreams come true at Castle in the Country in Allegan. Dana Look of Signature Events of West Michigan loves ceremonies here, where you can marry in the castle’s richly appointed drawing room or on the charming outdoor gazebo deck.

6. Animal Kingdom

At the Detroit Zoo, pick your favorite species to witness your ceremony: the National Amphibian Conservation Center, the Wildlife Interpretive Gallery, or—for the duo who loves to make a statement—the Arctic Ring of Life, the world’s largest polar bear exhibit.

7. Estate Grandeur

Vintage-loving brides look no further. Say I do at Wellers’ Inc., a flour mill turned historic estate (which was previously owned by Henry Ford). Two timeless gardens provide the backdrop for elegant weddings near the serene Saline River.

8. Chapel of Love

Traditional brides wanting something unique can marry at the rustic Frog Pond Village in Interlochen. The oh-so-cute chapels, named “Tadpole” and “Bullfrog,” are situated on 10 private acres among woods, frog ponds, and gardens.

9. Scent Appeal

Appeal to all the senses and exchange vows in the fragrant gardens of the Southern Exposure Herb Farm. Sara Dye of The Nightingale Events, Inc. in Marshall says the gardens are amazing and raves about the site’s accommodating staff.

10. Stage Beauty

At the Gem Theatre in Detroit, a favorite of Christie Sipila of Outstanding Weddings and Events in Royal Oak, extroverted couples can take center stage, literally. Recite your lines, uh vows, in the site’s Gem or Century Theatres, where seats can be arranged in rows or cabaret-style, or guests can sit up in the balcony.
