City-by-City Guide: Southern California's Best Wedding Ceremony Sites
1. Musical Score
The wavy steel exterior of Walt Disney Concert Hall is hard to miss—and forget. Wow your guests by marrying at one of the two outdoor amphitheaters at this architectural marvel designed by Frank Gehry.
2. Outdoor Splendor
For a taste of celebrity living, hold your ceremony in Ramirez Canyon Park, a 22.5-acre estate once owned by Barbara Streisand. Choose from one of several scenic spots, from the Peach House (a Mediterranean-style villa) to the rustic wood barn (Ms. Streisand’s former residence), complete with a river rock fireplace. 3. Cultural Treasure
Rich history and artistic talent come together at the Adamson House, where you can exchange vows before a backdrop of decorative tiles created by artisans and crafted from unique clays found in the Malibu area in the 1920s and 30s. L.A. event planner Julie Pryor led us to this colorful seaside space.
4. Water World
For stunning 360-degree views of the horizon, say “I do” aboard your very own yacht. Hornblower Cruises & Events departs from San Diego, Newport Beach, and Marina del Rey for nautical nuptials performed by the captain himself.
5. Museum Magic
Modern romance unfolds at the Petersen Automotive Museum (which houses a vintage car collection), where you can wed in the fourth-floor glass pavilion that boasts dazzling views of Beverly Hills and the Hollywood Hills.
6. Inn Style
The Ojai Valley Inn & Spa: It’s a little bit country and completely luxurious. A top pick of Ariel Yve of Soirée Design Group, this Spanish-style resort can host intimate ceremonies in its herb garden or larger celebrations in one of several courtyards.
7. Estate Grandeur
Channel old Hollywood glamour at the Wattles Mansion, recommended by L.A. event planner Kristin Banta. This Mission Revival residence has a sprawling front lawn, along with a formal Spanish garden and an Italian rose garden in the back.
8. Hot Hotel
One of the most gorgeous spots on the Pacific Coast, the Four Seasons Resort, The Biltmore, in Santa Barbara offers the perfect, intimate site for oceanfront vows—without the threat of beach crashers.
9. Through the Grapevine
No need to travel to Napa to wed in wine country. Couples can marry at Ponte Family Estate in Temecula, a working state-of-the-art vineyard, in a grassy amphitheater or a garden surrounded by vine-covered trellises.
10. Park Paradise
Our list would not be complete without La Jolla’s Cuvier Park, aka The Wedding Bowl. Located below street level, this favorite of Cassandra Heye of CC Event Design in San Diego offers privacy right on the coast. (619) 235-1169
