A BALLROOM IN GIRDWOOD, AK
Located along the scenic Seward Highway in Gridwood Alaska, Alyeska Resort Alaska is a beautiful hotel and special events venue. It is nestled into the Gridwood Valley, which is a glacier-carved valley surrounded by stunning mountain and waterfront views. This resort extends all the way to the top of Alyeska mountain, for those who prefer to look out over the valley. This venue is available for wedding ceremonies and receptions year round and it can accommodate small- or medium-sized wedding parties.
Columbia Ballroom. The Columbia Ballroom is located at the bottom of the mountain and it is the largest indoor special event space at this venue. It can comfortably seat up to 200 guests, with enough space for a dance floor and a DJ booth or small band. It features floor-to-ceiling windows for sweeping mountain views.
Kahiltna Court. Kahiltna Court is an indoor/outdoor space that features vaulting ceilings decorated with sparkling chandeliers. The outdoor balcony portion of this space is open during the spring and summer months and it has views of the Alyeska mountain, as well as rolling green foothills. It can accommodate up to 200 people with the use of the balcony or 150 people without the balcony.
The Bore Tide Deli. Those who want to take their event to the top of the mountain may want to consider the Bore Tide Deli. This space has panoramic views of the Gridwood valley and it is surrounded by the natural greenery of the region during the spring and summer. During the fall and winter, it is typically dusted with snow. This space is large enough to seat up to 200 guests.
The Seven Glaciers Restaurant. For a more intimate mountaintop reception, the Seven Glaciers Restaurant is a good choice. It can accommodate between 50 and 75 guests and it features casual seating. This space is also popular for rehearsal dinners and post-wedding brunches.
Our Lady of the Snows. Couples who want to have their ceremony on site can exchange vows in the Our Lady of the Snows chapel. This chapel is non-denominational and has the ambience of a rustic mountain lodge. It can seat up to 200 guests.

Alyeska did such an amazing job with our wedding! The food was fantastic, the cake was gorgeous and tasty, and the venue was set up perfectly! They were so gracious in letting us set some of our personal items up early and kept things safe until we came to get them the day after the wedding. The staff was so incredible! They kept checking on me and my groom during the reception to make sure that we had everything we needed. Stephanie was a pleasure to work with! I can't say enough good things about our experience!
Excellent customer service, beautiful setting, delicious food and beverages. My wedding was truly a dream come true thanks to Stephanie and her talented team at Alyeska Resort. Thank you!
Guests loved it!Reviewed on 11/04/2013 Cassandra S
We always enjoy our stays at the Alyeska Resort so it was a perfect fit for our wedding. Our guests had an amazing time. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are very nice.
Stephanie Moline was a dream to work with! Alyeska has weddings down and make it extremely smooth! They provide everything from tables, chairs, linens, catering, and even the cake! Scot even crafted a special gluten free egg free topper for me which I had just assumed there would be no wedding cake for me!
Biggest disappointment of my life. My wedding hasn't even happened there yet and I wish I could cancel everything. Stephanie has been extremely unhelpful. Everything I ask for is answered with "no". I had dreamed about having my wedding here since I first visited Alaska almost ten years ago, and now I am not even looking forward to my own wedding. Thousands and thousands of dollars completely wasted.
Alyeska was the perfect place for our spring wedding. Stephanie was fantastic to work with. She is prompt with responses to emails, but does not pester you with questions. The food and cake exceeded my expectations (we went with the chicken and prime rib; opted out of the seafood option because the salmon was dry). The banquet service was great and the staff very friendly and helpful. The only snafu we encountered was that they changed the ceremony from the slope to the Boretide deck the day before the ceremony since it was so warm the snow was too soft (chairs and guests would sink). Although this seems unavoidable, it was not great to learn about it at 5pm the night before the wedding. It ended up being a great place to have the ceremony and probably easier on the guests. We skied down from the ceremony to the reception in Kahiltna court, which was a blast! My only regrettable experience was with the spa (although I had a fantastic massage there after the wedding). I had trouble getting a clear idea on how to do the wedding make-up and they were fairly rude on the phone after my initial phone call when I followed up for more details and to change the time. They do not facilitate a bridal party getting ready together, you cannot be in the same room for nails, make-up, etc. Nevertheless, I did a make-up trial there out of convenience. It went comically poorly. I looked like a clown, though I couldn't tell until I went outside because the lighting in the spa (including the makeup room) is so dim. I literally had pink stripes on my face. The makeup artist was very, very nice, but admitted that it looked strange when I came back in to inquire about the racing stripes she said "oh, that does look strange, how did I not notice that?" Even after the revision, I felt like a child doing their makeup for the first time. I ended up having a friend do my hair and makeup. Our guests had a great time and many of them took advantage of the stay and ski deal. We were lucky and had fantastic weather, there was still good snow cover, but skies were blue and sunny all week. If I had to do it again, I would do it exactly the same!
We had some trouble initially with getting info from them as far as options and pricing went. They are pretty expensive, and hardly anything is included. They have a dance floor, sound system, chair covers, etc., but you have to pay extra for each, so be prepared for lots of little monetary additions. On the day-of it was incredibly smooth, gorgeous and well run. -The food was amazing (we had a plated dinner with duo steak and salmon)! They worked really well with our wedding coordinator. -You cannot cancel the room block at all, unlike other hotels we looked into. You have to decide right when you sign up, and are financially responsible for any unfilled rooms. -Some of the confusion may have been due to Alyeska changing their event coordinators while we were planning. Stephanie Moline, the coordinator when our wedding actually occurred, was pretty good, though the coordinator doesn't work Sunday or Monday, and she's sometimes hard to get ahold of because she's away from her desk dealing with other events during the day. Email worked best, and be prepared for the occasional multiple day delay in response. -All in all, you get what you pay for, so even though it was expensive, it was gorgeous!

My favorite place- great, organized and beautiful. Expensive but worth it. The first hotel coordinator was terrible, but she quit and I got a better coordinator.

Perfect LocationReviewed on 1/23/2013 Liz F
Alyeska has always been a special place for my husband and I. We always went there to spend special occasions. We got engaged there over a weekend so it just made sense to get married there. Everything was perfect and the staff is very accommodating to all your needs. It is beautiful winter and summer!

Wonderful place for the romantic weekend. Stay at the hotel where there are 4 great restraunts, order room service with champange for breakfast, pool and large hot tub, relax at the spa. Or go in town, beautiful trails to hike, several amazing restraunts, free bus to take you troughout the town provided by the hotel.

The venue is beautiful, the food is fantastic, and the serving staff on the day of is amazing! On the day of the wedding, we had no problems at all. It was a pretty rocky road leading up to the day though. The events Coordinator is very difficult to correspond with, but VERY good at her job. If you're a bride that needs a lot of communication with the venue, perhaps this is not the place for you.
Great caterers and friendly staff.Reviewed on 7/16/2012 Rachel S
They made a fabulous buffet and wedding cake for us. It was a little pricey, but I suppose it is your wedding day, so it's okay!

Alyeska is absolutely beautiful! The social coordinator there that we worked with was mostly friendly and helpful. A few times for booking things we received responses like "that should be fine," but nothing seemed definite. However, on the day of our wedding, everything was perfect! The room was set up exactly like we asked, the food was great and the servers treated us like royalty. Alyeska is slightly more expensive than some of the other places we looked, but it's all inclusive (ceremony site, reception site, food, beverages, place settings, etc) so it was well worth it, especially because we were planning from afar. And, the top of the mountain made for fabulous wedding pictures.
A Gorgeous Setting!Reviewed on 8/31/2010 Maricel M
a GORGEOUS setting. I had my reception at the Kahiltna Court Ballroom which has a balcony overlooking the pond and it is GORGEOUS. Even with rain and fog, it is beautiful. And I bet it's even beautiful in the winter, too. The view and the atmosphere definitely make up for the not so easy to work with staff....just an FYI.
Excellent VenueReviewed on 8/26/2010 Elizabeth T
Absolutly a beautiful venue. One of the best descisions I made.
Meet The Coordinator
Stephanie Moline loves weddings! Born and raised in Rochester NY, Stephanie came to Alaska to find out what all the fuss was about. She met her husband, Sean, while working in Seward as a deckhand. They tied the knot in May of 2013, and have added two furry rascals (Tybee and Simon) to complete their family. Stephanie's love of weddings comes from an obsession with matrimonial movies and planning. She will work hard to make sure your day is just as you imagined! With Alaska and Alyeska Resort as your backdrop, you will have a wedding day to remember.
