My husband and I had cupcakes from the Cupcake Emporium at a food festival and loved them, so we decided to get cupcakes for our wedding. I booked with them about a month ahead of time for 4 dozen cupcakes, and they said they would call back to... arrange delivery a day or two before the wedding because the ceremony was on a Sunday and they would be closed.
They lost my order (and didn't think to reply to the emails I had sent before booking the order via phone, or trying to get in touch any other way) and I didn't hear back from them, and when I tried to reach them the evening before the wedding and the morning of, nobody picked up, of course. We ended up getting cake the morning of the wedding from Gateway Market.
The day after the wedding, my husband called them to see what had gone wrong. They said that they had received four orders that day and two of them had been lost and they called but didn't get through (but there are no records on my phone of missed calls from them.) Apparently none of the employees owned up to being the one who took down/lost the orders, which means they don't keep records of who works when, because we gave them the exact date and time on which I placed the order.
In addition, the manager told us she would call us back after getting more information, and she lost our phone number within the day. So it seems like this happens a lot. We got a very lukewarm "sorry" and that was it.
So in conclusion, while I definitely think their cupcakes are 5-star delicious, and they must be nice for drop-ins, their customer service and organization was terrible.
