Working with Susanna and Baja Mama catering was a horrible experience from start to finish. Don’t use this company for catering. Don’t even rent from them as their equipment is old and doesn’t work. Below are the main issues we dealt with durin...g our important event. Susanna yelled at us during the party because of the issues she was having.
• Susanna is unprofessional, unable to communicate with clients and does not perform the duties on her own contract.
• She was never able to furnish a copy of her business license despite numerous requests by email and phone from both myself and the facilities manager.
• I introduced myself to the servers, not ever having met Susanna prior, as soon as I arrived because she did not approach me.
• I insisted she visit the site before the event, notifying me in advance so I could meet her there. She went without me and then continued to have communication issues with the facilities manager.
• Frozen drink machines are old, outdated and don’t work, but she will blame it on electricity. Two machines were rented, only one worked. She also promised to refill as needed. The working machine ran out over 30 minutes before she left the party (early) and was not refilled.
• Susanna believes all issues with the catering at the event were based on the facility (example, the food table was too far from the party, etc). These are the exact issues that should have been worked out in advance rather than when her execution failed.
• Tacos were to be served at 6:00 but were not served until 6
• Desserts were not to be served until after 8 – that was the agreement given that tacos were to be served at 6. Unfortunately, even with the delay in the main course, she served desserts before 8.
• The contract stated she would be serving food from 5-10. She had left the party at 9:30.
• Chips were to be fired on-site. They were cold and over salted.
• We had two different hot dips which were never hot. This is again something she blamed on the party being outside and away from the kitchen, although she knew this well in advance when she visited the site a month prior.
• Chips were left empty for over 45 minutes leaving nothing to eat the dip with.
• All food was cold, saying the Sterno cans were incapable of keeping the food hot. She was aware the party was outside well in advance and had plenty of time to make alternate arrangements to ensure hot food was served.
• Above all the errors and mistakes made on our important night, the fact that Susanna refused to take responsibility for ANY of the catering issues was the most disappointing. I wasn’t even introduced to her until she was yelling at ME for HER mistakes. She could not back up any of the blame she was placing and also wasn’t able to provide anything to back up her positions on why things didn’t work, such as the manuals that she promised to send us to prove her machines were in working order.
