All in all it was a very friendly company to work with and they make planning easy with their online planning tools.

Not only does Black Tie have a huge library of songs to choose from, their website portal was very useful when it came to picking songs for each specific moment of the evening. Talking to Lew felt like the first time we really nailed down a timeline, which set me at ease in the months leading up to the wedding. He has a great personality and speaking voice, and just really seemed to fit in to the flow of our wedding, guiding everyone through all the major points. He arrived promptly and set up all of his own equipment, which looked and sounded professional. And at the end he gave us a CD with all our major moment songs!! I was really touched by that and I'm so glad we had Lew there to celebrate our big day.

After reviewing the portfolios of the DJs, we chose Wayne, and seriously, this was one of the very best choices we made for our wedding day! Wayne was nothing short of incredible!!! He was so easy to communicate with leading up to the wedding, and he met with us in person and spoke with us over the phone to get to know us better and know what we wanted. He is full of energy, fun-loving, and obviously so passionate about being a DJ!! We had some difficult names to pronounce in our wedding party and family, and Wayne went over and over these to ensure he pronounced everyone's name perfectly (which he executed flawlessly at the reception!). Wayne's experience of love of DJing truly allowed him to really just "get" exactly what we wanted for our special day! On our wedding day, Wayne was incredible. He was so personable, immediately making friends with the bridal party, the families, and all the guests. He was so incredibly professional and prepared, arriving early to make sure everything was set up perfectly, and was one of the last ones to leave. We wanted a wedding with a packed dance floor, and Wayne did just that!!! He took our music preferences and turned it into SUCH a fun party! We had a poppin dance floor all night long!! What is more, the guests had fun because Wayne was having fun!! Not only was he great at playing the music, he was incredible at communicating with our guests, walking them through the events, where they needed to be, and what came next. Everyone, obviously including us, just LOVED him!! We highly recommend Black Tie for your wedding! We obviously just adored Wayne, but what is so great is that they have a DJ to meet the needs of each couple, so you're sure to find your perfect DJ match :)

June 2019, he did not disappoint. Jason has an instinct for knowing how to get a crowd going, and the dance floor at our wedding was non-stop fun. He also had no problems accommodating a last-minute request when we realized we had requested the wrong version of an older song. We received a lot of compliments about the music and Jason, and he had our guests on the dance floor till the very end of the night.

When you book a cheaper DJ it's either due to skill or inexperience. Yonni was both skilled, experienced, and an excellent MC! But no worries, BTE didn't break the bank or destroy our budget. 10/10 we would recommend BTE and more specifically, Yonni, to anyone who's looking. Thank you Yonni && BTE for an amazing soundtrack to our wonderful day!

Justin met with my husband and me for about an hour to talk about our expectations and what we wanted from the wedding. We basically wanted to get our entire wedding out on the dancefloor all night after dinner was over, and Justin delivered. He played a perfect mix of music throughout the night and knew exactly what song to play to keep the energy going. There were many moments that I looked around the room and saw that there were no people in their seats because everyone was on the dance floor. No small feat for 206 people!! Besides keeping people dancing, he was a truly great "master of ceremonies." He was on point with all of his introductions, he was fun and funny when it was appropriate to speak to the guests on the mic, and he looked super sharp doing it all! He handled dealing with the antics of a drunken member of our bridal party incredibly gracefully. My dad, who's not a guy who impresses easily, said how impressed he was with our DJ. We were absolutely thrilled with Black Tie and with Justin!

edding reception. Since we do not live in Richmond, we chatted to two DJs over FaceTime. After chatting with Bill Gilliam, we knew we had found our match. We didn’t realize how lucky we were to book Bill, but in retrospect we would highly recommend starting your DJ search as soon as possible in your wedding planning journey especially if your event is a Saturday during peak wedding months. Once we paid our deposit, we got access to Black Tie’s portal—an easy to use single point of entry for payment, timeline planning, song research, and song requests. The portal allows you to select your special songs such as processional, first dance, etc. It is the ‘system of record’ to make sure both DJ and clients are on the same page. There is also an area to select ‘must play,’ ‘play if possible,’ and ‘do not play.’ We worked on filling in as much as possible within the system prior to our longer call with Bill about 2 months before the wedding. In our conversation, we worked through a timeline and discussed the details regarding music, family dynamics, look and feel of the event, etc. Bill had some great recommendations that we had not thought of and sent us off to do a little more homework to make sure we were involved as much as we wanted to be. The beauty of working with Bill is that we provided our vision of what we wanted our day to be like and some guard rails (by way of song selections), and we felt completely comfortable leaving the game time decisions in his hands. We chose Bill because we were comfortable with his ability to read the crowd and keep our guests happy and on the dance floor. It was an added bonus that he offers to add the personal touch of a ‘love story’ where he tells a brief overview of our relationship before introducing us as husband and wife. On the day of, he did not disappoint. Not only was Bill (and his assistant, Andrew) on time, organized, collaborating with our day-of coordinator and other vendors, excited to be there, and more, but we also have heard countless stories and received many texts from our friends and family about how great our wedding was and especially the liveliness in the room during the reception. While we are really lucky that our family and friends are incredible individuals in their own right, we had folks from around the world and many different ages attend; Bill flawlessly made every single guest feel welcome though music choice, transitions, and personal touches. We cannot thank Bill and Black Tie Entertainment enough for making our most special day even more special!!!

He even smoothly stopped the party so that Nana could have her moment on the dance floor, which was one of my favorite memories! Black Tie was one of the easiest parts of the wedding. Otherwise I definitely recommend Black Tie!

He handled our line-up of toasts and performances like a pro. He practiced the pronunciations of difficult names and scripted how he would introduce everyone. We worked through our timeline and he coordinated with our planner to create a master timeline. Where Mike absolutely shined was handling day-of craziness. Our ceremony violinist got stuck in traffic from another city and didn't make it in time. Mike, who had shown up several hours early because he is professional and always prepared, was able to hook up his system (which was set up in the reception location only) to the ceremony speakers and find some music within about 20 minutes. Seriously, we would have had no ceremony music at all if not for this guy! He saved the day! He even came and found me because he knew I was freaking out to tell me that he could hook everything up and play some music, and that it would be OK and not to worry! My wedding was a handful and he was amazing! He also combined the two songs we wanted into a first dance song, which was so nice and was mixed seamlessly! He played a great mix of songs we selected, requests, and songs he thought worked. The crowd was dancing all night and everyone had a wonderful time. Mike has a very calming demeanor when he is helping bride and groom prep, but comes alive when he is DJing and on the mic. He picks great songs and is articulate when making announcements. I would recommend DJ Mike and Black Tie without reservation and want to sincerely thank them for making my wedding unforgettable!

Months before the wedding, we attended one of their "Meet the DJ Night" events. I highly suggest doing this! It was a fun evening where we could observe all the different DJ's ina mock wedding reception type setting, and see their personalities. My daughter immediately connected with Alan Boyle, who projected the perfect blend of classic charm and fun that she was looking for. Alan was terrific to work with both before and during the wedding. He made himself available to meet with my daughter before she left for college; a then was very attentive via email whenever she had a question. He even skyped with she and the groom about a month prior to the wedding just to iron out last minute details. On the day of the wedding he was prompt and organized and knew just what to do. He handled the music and various song changes for our outside ceremony seamlessly, and did a great job with the Reception as well. He really kept the evening moving along, and seemed to have a talented eye and ear for reading the energy and mood of the guests. I couldn't have been more please with how he handled our whole event. I highly suggest Alan Boyle and Choice Entertainment!

Closer to the wedding day, he called me to make sure the versions he found of the songs for the ceremony were the right ones (since acoustic covers tend to have 93847 versions out there). On our wedding day, Reggie didn't miss a beat, was the perfect happy medium of energy and kept everyone dancing.
