ne could have hoped for, she was supremely organized, knowledgable about vendors that knew how to work in our venue, able to put together great options within our budget range, and of course wonderfully pleasant. But beyond that, she was really good at working with our busy schedules and indecisiveness - Emilie always had great advice about what direction to take and knew how to narrow down questions to focus our decisions, but we never felt like she was pushing us in any one direction or another. It was simply exactly what we needed - an expert who could take our vague notions of what we wanted for our wedding and shape them into plans and clear choices that made the planning much more manageable. She and her assistant were wonderful and wonderfully attentive on the day of, getting everything set up beautifully and keeping us on schedule without being overbearing.

ut the planning. We looked at 17 venues in two days. She was wonderful about finding places she knew would work for our large guest list but wouldn't break our budget. Every vendor she introduced us to was great. We loved each person we hired and would use each of them again. Her "day of" help was instrumental in making sure the wedding went off without a single wrinkle. She stayed with us until the bitter end! I would never plan a wedding without Emilie!

My rowdy bridal party listened to her fully during the rehearsal (to my delight - i was nervous about reigning them all in), and on the day-of, she kept us on a great timeline. During my outdoor cocktail reception, a whirlwind storm rushed through, and her team went to work making sure the guests didn't miss a beat - moving tables and decor inside the tent, starting up the DJ when the band ran for cover, and cleaned up turned over chairs. The storm went through so quick that they even opened the bar back up outside and moved some more tables back out because they knew how much I wanted the reception outdoors. It was just fantastic, and both my (now) husband & I felt well taken care of from the minute we woke up that morning. With all the vendors we hired for the wedding, it was great to have someone coordinate all the logistics, taking care of snafus (that will happen no matter what!), and just ensuring your great time continuously was absolutely amazing. But I knew that the only way to make sure that me, my Mom, and my future Mother-in-Law relaxed and enjoyed ourselves as much as possible on the day of the wedding, and quite frankly the week of the wedding, was to hire a planner. Emilie Hilsenrath of Bliss did exactly this for us. If there were things that needed attending to or went wrong the day of my wedding, I have no idea what they were because Emilie and her staff handled it all behind the scenes and as penultimate professionals. From helping us finalize a caterer and other vendors (pipe & drape, DJ, hair & makeup), to walking us all through a great rehearsal the night before, to coordinating vendor set up and take down, to fastening boutineers and corsages to telling us where to be and when, to making sure all our gifts and personal decor made it safely back to our hotel room, to welcoming us back after our honeymoon. I can't imagine my wedding week and day without Emilie, except to say that it all went off without a hitch, and even our guests said so (and are still talking about how "us" and memorable our wedding was -- the best compliments we could have received). And I have no doubt that it was in large part to Emilie and Bliss. Save your sanity and hire her now.

She was always positive and ready to answer our (seemingly endless) questions with a ready answer or great alternative to any problem that popped up. As our wedding day got closer, my fiance and I, as well as my family, considered Emilie one of the family - she had been so kind and generous and sweet. We knew we could rely on her for whatever was needed and to follow through with the highest quality planning. On the day of the wedding I truly did not worry about any detail and neither did my husband or my parents. Everywhere we looked - Emilie was there tending to the details and making sure everything ran smoothly. I cannot look back on one thing did not go according to plan. We had more than one family member come up and ask for Emilie's information. All I can say is that Emilie made my wedding what is was - the realization of everything I had hoped it would be. And she did so with grace, patience, kindness, humor and 150% professionalism and talent. You cannot go wrong with Emilie and Bliss.

Knowing what all of these things were and how/when they were supposed to be used wasn't easy, but we kept Emilie informed of all our plans as we developed them, and she asked questions to make sure she really understood how everything was to be implemented. Additionally, she took them all from us, transported them to the venue, and set them up for us, making sure that every detail we'd imagined came together in a seamless way. Emilie was able to help us create the wedding that we dreamed of by putting in tremendous effort to prepare for everything in advance: she answered countless emails several months leading up to the wedding. She spent a whole day driving up to our venue (which was north of Baltimore) and doing a thorough walk-through with us to map out (and improve) every part of our plan. She met with our caterer to refine the initial plan we created, she made an extensive timeline of events for the entire day (from the hair and makeup appointments in the morning to the grand finale at the end of the reception), she contacted all of our vendors to ensure that they were on the same page, she directed our rehearsal with the wedding party the night before the wedding, she picked up extra supplies the morning of the wedding that we had forgotten to purchase, and most importantly, she worked all day to make sure that our wedding went smoothly. My sister never hired a day-of-coordinator for her wedding and told me that that was the biggest mistake, because there were inevitable hiccups throughout the day and every decision that had to be made in the moment was deferred to her. Because of Emilie, my husband and I enjoyed every part of our wedding. We both knew we could relax and enjoy ourselves because Emilie would take care of everything necessary, and she did. I know that hiring a day-of-coordinator seems like a luxury, but my husband and I agreed that the expense to hire Emilie was the most important money that we spent on any vendor, and we truly would have cut back on everything else (iPod instead of a DJ, Martinelli's instead of wine, etc.) before going without Emilie. By the time the wedding was over, I was shocked that Emilie charged as little as she did for as many services as she provided us with. I would HIGHLY recommend her DOC package for anybody without a coordinator in the DC area.
