LOVED my venueReviewed on 5/25/2014 Karla F
The Boathouse was such a fabulous place to hold our 80-person wedding ceremony and reception. We were so in love with the space, we booked it before we were even engaged! Sarah Izzo from the Prospect Park staff was awesome to work with, and extremely responsive to work with when a situation arose with their preferred caterer. My guests couldn't stop raving about what a beautiful space it was. Also - the space is surprisingly reasonable to rent. The catering is not, unless they have changed to a different caterer, but the venue rental itself for a Saturday evening wedding was EXTREMELY affordable.
We landed on the Prospect Park Boathouse as our wedding venue, and although we didn't know it at the time, were lucky to find out that Moveable Feast is the exclusive caterer for the venue. Moveable Feast, and their indefatigable coordinator, Yoriko (who must be literally the most patient woman in the world), handled so many details it made planning our wedding a relative breeze, and definitely eliminated the need for a full-scale wedding planner. Aside from the food, they also took care of all of the rentals (tables, chairs, linens, etc), complete venue set-up, the waitstaff, security, and breakdown after. We didn't have to worry about sticking around to make sure our caterer cleaned up to the venue's satisfaction... it's their venue! Everything, from the service, to the food, was impeccable. When we were seated for dinner, a staff member introduced herself to my husband and me, and let us know she was there just for us - she made sure my champagne flute was never empty, and that we got enough to eat. And the food! So many of our guests have commented that they've never had better food (or more generous portions) at a wedding. Yoriko, Moveable Feast's coordinator, patiently and quickly responded to over 150 emails from me during the planning process, as well as fielding direct questions from the vendors we did bring in (music, our florist, etc) about venue specifics. She was on hand during the wedding itself as well, and deftly handled any small situation that arose (like park security refusing to let in one of our vendor's vans, even though they were properly permitted - they were promptly admitted once Yoriko heard about it!).
We had a fabulous wedding at the boathouse! The setting is gorgeous, hidden just off of the beaten path in Prospect Park. Many of our New York resident guests had never seen it before. The gas lamps reflecting on the water, the brick pavers on the steps and in the hall, the double wooden staircase and the views from the second floor balcony made the location feel so special and unique. Parking was provided as well as guides to show out guests the way and security around the building. I highly recommend this venue!
My husband and I married at The Boathouse at Prospect Park on June 11th 2016. We were ecstatic to have found somewhere so unique, we actually booked it in the thick of winter with snow up to our knees and without ever being inside! The only downside is that you do not have a choice in caterer but I assure you that you will not be disappointed with The Movable Feast. They run all the events at the boathouse and we were in full contact with them throughout our planning and food options are also plentiful. Our ceremony was outside on the dock, which was/is breathtaking and makes for exquisite photographs. Our ceremony was at 6pm and we left the venue at 11pm. If we could do it again we probably would have started earlier and paid the extra to extend the festivities. Everything is extra at the boathouse because you essentially get an empty shell. The Movable Feast provides the tables, chairs & linen. We upgraded the chairs @ $10 a head. We also added on allot of food including a Seafood table, Antipasto table, upgraded some appetizers and we did the Cornish Hens and Hanger Steak. The food was flawless!!! We used violinists for the ceremony who were seated outside with us and then a band who had to be set up inside. Our guests enjoyed the indoor/outdoor feel of the venue, we hung out on the steps and danced on the dock. I had extra long sparklers for everyone to light for our cake cutting and the movable feast staff helped with the handing out & lighting and every other step throughout the night. Also worth noting is that it was still pretty hot out for our 6pm ceremony, I was glad I had provided fans for our guests. The bathrooms have one stall each but are roomy, we placed a table in both (extra charge, $50 each) for baskets of toiletries. The bride/groom have a private bathroom area upstairs. We hired extra furniture for our outdoor cocktail hour which were utilized throughout the night, also $50 per table. The Boathouse does provide a decent amount of furniture but we knew most people would want to use tables while eating seafood. The site fee for The Boathouse is ridiculously low at around $6k. Our super booth was placed outside at the top of the steps beside the side entrance, it was out of the way but still super visible. We could not have had a more perfect day and everything ran smoothly because of the tireless work of The Movable Feast staff. Our guests only had wonderful things to say about the Boathouse and everyone who served us. Yoriko became like family to us and went above and beyond to make sure our day was exactly what we envisioned. If you were searching for a venue that is exciting with buckets full of character and history, you've got it!! Corey & Irene Pugliese
We got married here a week ago, and I literally have zero complaints and only the highest praise for this outstanding and gorgeous venue. If you live near Prospect Park or if the park holds any meaning to you and your partner, I cannot understand why you'd look anywhere else. Yoriko and her crew are fantastic. The staff is professional, friendly, expert. Our guests couldn't stop raving about how stunning the venue was and how delicious the food was. So, so incredible. It exceeded our expectations.
Beautiful, Classic and ElegantReviewed on 11/20/2010 Jennifer W
The Boathouse in Prospect Park is a secret of Brooklyn -- the beautiful Beaux Arts design allows for a stunning background for the perfect event. The caterers, The Movable Feast, work with you to make the evening just as you see it. They are flexible and on point. The food is incredible and beautifully presented. The Boathouse can serve as a ceremony and reception site, and is quite comfortable for 85 people including sit-down dinner and dancing. All of our guests, many from out-of-town, raved about the space, and how elegant it was, and how perfect it was laid out for a wedding. There will always be a special place in our hearts for the Boathouse.
