Bad photographer AFTER the wedding. For future any wedding @Bricks Photography
We got our photographer almost 2 years prior to our wedding, with an $800 deposit. We felt we really connected with her and wanted her to be involved in our big day. A year prior to our wedding the photographer found out her husband had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. After several months of reaching out to the photographer (I didn't know husband had cancer), we had a conversation about if she was able to fulfill the photography contract. If she needed the time with her husband, she needed to take it, and we could find someone else for the wedding. She reassured me that I did not need to find someone else. Since our wedding was on Father's day weekend, we covered the room rate for the family and invited her husband and child to the wedding/reception. They/she were wonderful during the wedding and reception. I am really disappointed that it has gotten this bad to get our pictures.
We have contacted our photographer multiple times trying to get our photos. Since July 2022 we have been promised the "rest of our photos" would be uploaded. In September she promised we would have our pics.
A whole 2 months happened and still nothing.
September 30th, I reached out again.
October 1st, She stated "I suck" and would get them uploaded. That she would let me know the following Monday when things would be uploaded. I told her via a phone call "I get it, I'm a nurse, we have stuff happening, please get it to us ASAP". Still nothing.
October 18th:
Hey love! Wondering if you can upload the rest of the pics today. I sent thank you cards yesterday but want to order albums for the moms and prints for our living room ❤️ I'm sorry to keep bugging you.
No response.
October 24th:
Just want to make sure you got my message last week since I haven't heard back from you. I really need the pictures by the end of the week so I can get albums ordered and here before mid December (we are planning early Xmas!). Thanks!
Same day, She called and apologized for not having our photos to us. Stated she thought her ""partner who leased her studio, part time, deleted our photos (and 4 other weddings) "in revenge" for getting kicked out of the studio"". She said within the next week she would start uploading new edited photos, they are all new to her, since "something" happened to all our photos. She re-upload photos we already had the next day.
She then told me her child was sick, but posted on social she was out with friends for an "I need this weekend".
Then, I didn't hear from her for an additional week, although we were promised photos the prior week.
I messaged her again this last week, direct quote from me: "I'm really really trying to not be that person. It has been very shy of a week since I have heard from you. 4.5 months since we got married and we cant even see our wedding pics. Girl please give us our photos"
And her response "Sorry that is not how this works. Please do not make me contact our attorney- this is ridiculous" Please stop harassing me"
"I have given you a timeline. Please quit stating falsehoods about holding pictures hostage and act how you said you would and allow me to give the product I do"
According to our contract she's 12 weeks late on delivery of photos (see comments).
We spent $3500 (gross estimate) on this photographer. Including paying for her hotel room, food for her husband and child @ the reception.
Kristin was super fun to work with. She is incredibly creative and she has a great eye for photos. Her personality shines through her pictures. She makes it her goal to develop a personal relationship with couples. She was very patient and supportive while we re-imagined our whole pandemic wedding together. We had a sneak-peak of our photos the night of our wedding. I highly recommend Bricks Photography!
My husband and I really enjoyed working with Kristin. She was fun and bubbly which our bridal party loved. And she was assertive enough that she could tell everyone where they needed to be and take all the photos in a timely manner, which we loved.
For the most part, communication was quick and easy. There were a few times where responses took a few days/weeks, but this was mostly due to unforeseen circumstances in the photographer's personal life.
My recommendation to couples (just in general when it comes to photographers), is to have a good idea going into your wedding day what photos you REALLY want to capture. Just communicate to your photographer the photos you would like to prioritize (i.e., family photos, bride/groom photos), so that you don't waste time on photos that you don't really care about.
Kristen is so amazing and we couldn’t of had a better person capture our special day!
