This was my first time at Brides and Grooms and my experience was fantastic. I was referred here from a family that has been coming here for years, and I was not disappointed. The staff was welcoming, offered great suggestions and once I found a dress-they were super helpful. I ended up needing last minute alterations and they couldn’t be more accommodating. Their work is impeccable and they are so friendly. I’d highly recommend for any wedding party need.
I went to the Brides and Grooms store in Delaware and had a great experience! I did not feel rushed while trying on dresses and was able to find my perfect dress! I got alterations elsewhere due to my location, however, Brides and Grooms alterations were a much better price than where I went!
I have used brides and grooms for all my prom dresses before getting married and my wedding dress. They took such good care of me as the client in making me feel comfortable and listening to what I wanted/needed. Marie took one look at me and what I was thinking and pulled from the stock the perfect dress. The alterations were exactly what I asked and again, they honored my wishes and made me feel both comfortable and beautiful on my wedding day!
I bought my dress at the salon in DE and found the experience to be just as I had hoped. My party of 7 was able to sit comfortably and watch as I tried on gowns with the support of the team, who helped me to find styles I liked in my price range and helped to dress me. We found the alterations to be resonably priced, the seamstress to be friendly and talented, and the hours to be flexible. No complaints!
I came into the salon in no mood to try on wedding gowns. I am a person who hates to be the center of attention, but the amazing girl who helped me and my family had me loving the dress experience in a matter of seconds! We tried on style after style until my stylist decided to grab something out of the box. The style she brought me of a fitted dress was not what I would have ever imagined for myself, as I am very self conscience... not only did I absolutely love that dress, but I felt stunning as he** and I rocked that dress! Thank you thank you thank you for helping me find my perfect dress! I will recommend y’all to every single person I see get engaged!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
DO NOT SHOP HERE. I brought a dress in to be altered (hemmed and cups put in). They said it was going to cost $100 which I knew was way too high but I just wanted to take the dress in and have it done right and be on my way. I thought bc they’re a bridal shop I had nothing to worry about. Little did I know that the person doing the alterations would get a huge stain on the chest of the dress. Pretty frustrating but I get that things happen. I left and told them I’d be back the next day to pick up the dress. I leave work early to come get the dress and as soon as I see it it’s apparent that there is now an even bigger stain on it. I now have to come back a third time to pick up the dress that I already overpaid to have altered. They did manage to get the majority of the stain out, however, they made no effort at all to make it right. A saleswoman apologized to me the second day but that was it. On the third day I was told I had to call and speak to the owner if I wanted anything done but she wouldn’t be back in the store for another 2 days.
When I spoke to the owner she was very condescending and dismissive towards me. She asked me why it was her problem and why would they ever refund any of my money since I’d already paid. I told her the right thing to do would’ve been to try to make it right on her own without me having to reach out to her but she told me I was being ridiculous and they’d gladly keep my money then she abruptly hung up on me.
Please do not spend your money lining the pockets of such a rude person who refuses to do the right thing. You do not want to be stuck with a ruined dress on your wedding day and an owner who refuses to go above and beyond to help fix an issue that she created.
This was the absolute worst experience that I've ever had. The blatant disregard for any type of customer service. 1st they ignored our calls for weeks rather than calling and giving us an update. The dress was 2 weeks late arriving. Yelling at a customer and hanging up when asked any questions about an order, told you just have to deal with it and threatened to call the police because we wanted to try the dress on that was ordered and arrived 2 weeks late before we paid for it to ensure the right size was ordered. I've been calm throughout this whole process but I honestly can't understand how these folks are still in business. I plan to call the BBB and see if they can help me with this situation. Avoid this location at all costs. There are a few other dress stores within 2 miles of this location that's wonderful (Little M, Synchronicity etc...) Trying to save a little money with the smaller shop has ended up making matters much worst
I went to a different bridal salon before I came here to find my dream dress. I had a nightmare appointment at the previous salon and I was so relieved when I found a salon that carried dress sizes larger than a twig. I'm not a very "large" bride, but I have curves and if you go to one of the mainstream bridal salons you won't fit into any samples, which is what happened to me. All in all: come here if you want style, affordability, and a variety of designers. The woman that helped me was amazing! I will also be getting my alterations done here.
They charge a fee for trying on bridesmaid dresses!!! Worst experience at a Bridal shop. A fellow bridesmaid and I went to look for options for our friend's wedding. When staff was on the phone and did not acknowledge us. We waited for 5 minutes and then decided to show ourselves to our selection. Then we were rudely informed as we were looking at the choices that no photography was allowed, even after we explained that the bride was out of town and wanted to see the options we found. Then he asked if we had an appointment. I explained that I had called earlier in the week and was told I didn't need one. He seemed to say that appointments were needed but it would be fine today. That was when he informed us he would be charging a fee for simply trying on the dresses. We walked out immediately. I have never felt more unwanted in an establishment.
I placed my order for my wedding dress January 3 2017. I was assured the dress will be in by May. I called the shop to check on the status of my dress. Now I am told by the owners that my dress will be in by July 31 2017 "this is a popular dress it's on back order the dress company is busy making other dresses". My wedding is in September I sure hope my dress comes in July as they promised. I am getting nervous with the new delivery date, July does not give me much time for alteration on the dress.
If I could rate this place in the negative, I would. After hearing horror stories about this store, I was hesitant to go however, they were the only place that carried the gown I wanted that wasn't too far away. The process of picking out my gown was pleasant; it wasn't until after they received my payment and the alterations began that the nightmare started.
My gown was a little too "poofy" for my liking so I had asked them to remove some layers. I went back a few weeks after my first fitting to try the dress on, with the layers removed, to discover they had cut a huge hole right in the front while removing the layers. I pointed the mistake out to the owners who then tried to blame me for the hole. After explaining to them there was no way I could have done this (considering I had no shoes on or anything that would have caught the dress) they finally agreed to fix it.
While standing in the store, discussing how to fix the dress, they said they would remove the fabric and replace it with a whole new fabric. My mom and I agreed to this and left with an appointment to try the dress on again. The next day mom still didn't feel comfortable with our experience and was very stressed on the unknown outcome of my dress so she called to express her concerns. The owner talked her into, instead of replacing the fabric, to sew a seam down the front where the hole was.
We went to try the dress on, after it was "fixed" to discover it did not look "perfect" like he had promised. After having them cut the hole in my dress and mess up a few other minor alterations they were supposed to do, my mom and I deemed it to be best to take the dress somewhere else to be finished. When we went to get the dress the owner wanted to charge us for the alterations that had happened because of their mistakes. After basically being called a brat and having the owner tell me he doesn't want "my kind" in his store and trying to explain to him we shouldn't have to pay, we ended up doing so just to get my dress out of the store. Brides beware of this store and their extreme lack of customer service, lack of respect, and unprofessionalism.
I had such a great experience at this place. I visited this shop in November, but did not know what I wanted. After doing some research over the months, I found out that they carry a designer that I really wanted to wear, Maggie Sottero. I went back in March and met with the bridal consultant Bridget. She was very helpful and had such a friendly, warm demeanor. I told her my budget and she helped me find 5 gowns around that range. That day I found the gown of my dreams. It so happens that the gown was being discontinued, so I was able to purchase it off the rack for a big discount! The only negative was that the gown was a size 12 and I'm a size 2. Well, they have an AMAZING seamstress, Mr. Hy Lim, who was able to fit the gown to my body. It looks perfect! The alterations were a little pricey but they were worth it. They were able to complete my alterations within a couple of weeks and allowed me to have multiple fittings to perfect them. I definitely recommend this shop!
Word of Advice: Do not buy your dress around prom season. Alterations take longer due to the amount of prom go-ers needing alterations.
I had an AWFUL experience with these ladies. To start, Nicole did not ask what my budget was, so when I found a dress I didn't want to say no due to it being slightly higher than what I had wanted to pay. A few months later, I decided to check prices online and found that I had been charged wayyy more than if I had gone elsewhere for the same dress. Also, I ordered a veil with a double layer so that I could have a blusher. This was also wrong. I also ordered bridesmaids dresses here because they gave us 20% off since I had purchased my gown there. I had to come back and pick a dress for my bridesmaids 3 different times because the dresses I had picked were discontinued or didn't come in the right color when they had assured me that they had called and double checked before I left. Months later when I came to pick up my gown I saw the first bridesmaid dress (the one that was supposedly discontinued) still on the rack. This company is absolutely awful and charges wayyy too much! The ladies who work here are always rude and act like they are too busy to help. I had to do pretty much everything myself! I would not recommend this store to anyone!
I can't give a 0 so I'll give 1 star.
Service was.... Literally the worst experience I had while wedding dress shopping. I'm unsure if this was because we were late to our appointment and the store was closing soon (we had about 45 min until close) or if it was Thomasina, the sales rep's attitude. It's probably a combo of both.
First Thomasina gathered info about what I was looking for in a dress, which was good. She picked about 3 dresses which looked very average on the rack but I figured I could try them on just to verify. They didn't fit because as I explained to her, I have a small waist (26/27inch) and large hips (41 inch) and usually I have to get alterations to fit one or the other. She gave me a bunch of crap about my size- how I should tone up before the wedding, how a dress that couldn't even zip past my butt was my "perfect size" bc it would fit if I lost 10 lbs, and that I should buy a different style dress (like a ball gown) because they had it in my size. She also had me in some hideous dress that could zip and said it looked great... Probably just because it did fit. After all of this I was definitely ready to leave but not before she have her card about her "Image/Lifestyle Consulting" company and how I should call her to learn wellness, nutrition, and exercise tips

Thomasina, I have CURVES! I do NOT want to hide them in an empire waist or pouffy gown as you suggested so you could make a quick sell rather than considering the item that I wanted. I managed to try on sheaths, fit and flares, trumpets, slim a lines, etc at other stores that all fit beautifully and you were the only person to tell me that I was too big to wear them.
Please Learn how to dress a RANGE of women's body types if you want to be a fashion designer , life style coach, wedding consultant or whatever random combination you are trying to be. I plan to "tone up" but it won't be because of the basic dresses that you suggested or your commentary.
Avoid this place
At first I was a little put off by the location (in between a dunkin donuts and a lab corp in a strip mall past it's prime), but do not let that fool you. I went there with my bridesmaids to get their dresses and could not have been happier with their service. It's a little cramped, but mainly because there were so many dresses to try. They just let us run around and try on whatever we wanted and their patience was endless. We ended up buying everyone's dresses there.
Can't say enough good things about them! I felt like the staff was really invested in making me and my dress as beautiful as possible, the alterations were wonderful, and they had a extensive selection to begin with. I also got my bridesmaid dresses and rented the groomsmen's tuxes there too and the entire bridal party was satisfied with their clothes. THe value was also superb. Would recommend them to everyone!
