Horrible experience from beginning to end. To begin, we asked for punch for the non-alcohol consuming guests, which was extremely watered down. The chicken served at the wedding was not what was served to us at our tasting in February. For the tasting, we were served a standard sized chicken breast. Thin fillets of chicken were served instead. The gluten-free pasta was so overcooked that it was visibly stuck together. The server had to cut out a piece of it with the spoon for my plate. As the bride and groom, we were the first people served dinner and our dinner was cold, meaning so was everyone else’s. Dotti knew our wedding was held outdoors during the late afternoon/evening. Why she would not serve food in better insulated dishes is beyond our comprehension. Even food catered for indoor events is served in metal chafing dishes with Sternos to ensure adequate temperature. The chicken was overcooked and dry and difficult to cut. The asparagus was undercooked. As guests moved through the buffet, it was visibly obvious to many guests that the staff were rationing food, only serving three potatoes per person in some cases. In an effort to keep trays full of food, some of the pork tenderloin was added to the buffet line noticeably undercooked. It was so pink guests did not want to eat it (which explains the tray of leftover pork in our refrigerator – which we photographed to document how undercooked it was). To add insult to injury, before all of the tables were served, the caterer had run out of potatoes, asparagus, tossed salad and dinner rolls. In some cases, the staff even told a few guests that more asparagus was being steamed and would be out shortly, which never happened. The caterer later told us they forgot food at the kitchen, but never refunded us. The caterer also ran out of coffee and never brought the tea as stated on our contract. In response to the complaint regarding the stark difference between the chicken and the pasta served to us at the tasting versus the chicken and pasta served at our wedding, Dotti said that it was because she used different vendors. At no point in time during or after our tasting did Dotti state that she could not guarantee the same quality of food, particularly with regard to the gluten-free pasta. During our tasting she told us that the gluten-free pasta was available at Shop Rite, which gave us the impression that it was easily and readily available. To say we are disappointed would be an understatement. No one should be treated this way, particularly our military members. We've sent several certified letters to Brown Sugar Catering and all attempts to reach her have been ignored. We do not recommend hiring this caterer for any type of event.
