Carla Duca Makeup Artistry

Carla came recommended to me by a friend and I am SO happy I chose her for my wedding day! As someone who rarely wears make-up and did not want to look like a completely different person on my wedding day, she really listened to what I liked and definitely delivered on the 'natural' look I was going for! She made me and my bridesmaids look absolutely beautiful with make-up that lasted flawlessly throughout the night. I 100% recommend her to any bride in the Chicago area!

I had two trials with Carla because my first trial I felt the look was too dark for a bridal look, but I liked the second trial which was for my bridal shower. I had 8 bridesmaids, my mom, 2 aunts, and myself all scheduled for makeup at 8am because we had to be completely ready by noon. The morning of my wedding her assistant showed up at the door 20 minutes late, and when I asked where Carla was, she said “she didn’t call you?! She can’t make it.” It was a horrible start to an already stressful day for a bride. There was no other artist lined up, and the assistant was calling everyone she knew to find a backup. She couldn’t do airbrush which some of the girls were supposed to get and she said she wouldn’t be able to finish all the girls by herself. A couple of my bridesmaids had their mother’s drive their makeup bags from the suburbs to downtown to Chicago so they could do their own makeup last minute. Luckily the amazing hair stylists I had called a girl to drive in from sycamore to Chicago (about 50 miles at least) to get everyone finished. Samatha (the assistant)did a great job and my makeup lasted all night. I received a text from Carla around 6:30pm on my wedding day apologizing because she was sick. Sick or not, wedding vendors should have backups and she was able to let the assistant know at 3am she couldn’t make it, so she should’ve had someone in place to come in her absence. What is most upsetting about the whole situation is that when I shared my experience about my day she sent me a long rude message saying “I’m sorry you’re still bitter” and “feel the need to discuss your wedding day with people.” I absolutely feel the need to share it because it was a horrible way to start what ended up being the most perfect day.

Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have met Carla! I am a person that is not makeup savvy (mascara,eyeliner is as good as it gets). Having my makeup done for the wedding frightened me (didn't want to look like a clown). I met Carla through a friend that moved to Georgia, they worked together so she recommended me to try her. I came to Carla with a specific look and after i told her my makeup lifestyle, she warned me about the look i wanted saying that it might be too much, i didn't listen and she was right! I freaked out a little bit lol! However she gave me some recommendations and we scheduled a second trial and it was perfect! fast forward to closer to the wedding and unfortunately Carla had an accident with her ankle so she couldn't stand on her foot for too long. But she's still a rock star because she sent a replacement makeup artist aaannnnnddd still came to do my makeup even she couldn't barely stand to ease my comfort!!! I was so grateful that she did that and I felt the sense of loyalty and commitment Carla has for her clients! Carla- thanks again for all that you did for the wedding, you are magnificent!!

Carla was amazing. My makeup was absolutely beautiful, and she is so fun to be around. Very organized and on time, and she is so talented.

Carla was amazing! She went above and beyond for me and my bridesmaids! My mom was apprehensive about getting her make up done at first but after Carla was done she looked gorgeous, and kept saying how much she loved it!!

Carla is AMAZING! It rained sideways on my wedding.... I took photos outside and my makeup was still flawless all day! Some of my bridesmaids and my mom got their makeup done too and everyone was over the moon with how they looked! They didn’t even give her much direction. There is not much to say other then Carla is the absolute best in the business. My make up was ABSOLUTELY flawless and I received so many compliments and still receiving them 5 months after my wedding!! I have never felt more beautiful even with all the tears, hugs, and kisses my make up lasted all night long. She is amazing to work with and just knows exactly what works best for you oh and she has the BEST personality can't get any better then that!! I will recommend Carla over and over again!

Let me just start off by saying that i am absolutely OBSESSED with Carla! From her bubbly personality to her dedicated professionalism and easy to vibe with persona; she is THEE go to makeup artist of choice! I've had my makeup done plenty of times before; only to go home and wash it right off. Coming from someone who loves hair and makeup, its hard for me to trust someone else to do it for me the way I like to do it on myself. Carla was the first and ONLY person thus far, that completely understood my vision the first time around (at trial) and instantly gained my trust. I was so comfortable on the day of my wedding, knowing she was going to glamify me to the nines, without me having to fix or change a thing and she just did just that! I have never felt more beautiful than i did on that day. Even all of my bridesmaids looked perfectly flawless! Honestly; anything or shall i say, anyone she touches turns to GOLD...she's just that good! From now on; Carla is the only one I'll recommend and personally go to for any of my future makeup needs!

Carla did SUCH an amazing job on my makeup as the bride and did an equally fantastic job on all of my bridesmaids. She has such a sweet, fun and down to earth personality and made me feel incredibly comfortable and helped me to enjoy my wedding day. There were 13 of us that needed our makeup done and Carla brought 2 other makeup artists with her to make sure the day went smoothly and we did not feel rushed. I really appreciated how much time and detail she put into her work. I do not wear makeup often and never thought that regular, non airbrush makeup could look so great, natural and last so long. I have never felt so beautiful before with makeup on and have never received so many compliments. My makeup actually still looked amazing when I finally went to sleep around 4 am. Thank you CARLA!!

Carla is amazing at what she does!! I had my makeup done by her for my cousins wedding and she did a fabulous job! I can't say enough great things about her! I received compliments all day about how natural my makeup looked and I absolutely loved it! Carla is an absolute GEM in the makeup world! She is friendly and very professional. I had my makeup done by Carla for a wedding that I was in in September.
