“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” —Aaron Siskind
Dear Brides,
I believe photography is one o...f the most important vendor decision you can make. It is the lasting legacy of your wedding. It’s the pictures that end up as your social media default picture, becomes a fixture in your household lovingly hung on your walls, and is handed down to your children and grandchildren so they can see how happy you were on your wedding day. It is a choice that I believe should not only be due to the work of the photographers, but also due to the personality and ease of working with them. It is this reason I 100% recommend Casey Connell Photography.
I couldn’t imagine being a photographer. The sheer pressure of capturing the precise moment of emotion of a person or between people… I would be beside myself with constant worry that I was missing it. It is for this reason primarily, why I so admire Jessie and Pat from Casey Connell Photography. They have the innate ability to capture a small but immensely meaningful moment without you even knowing that the moment happened or that a picture was being taken. It is a rare gift and I’m so happy we asked them to capture our wedding day.
The description of their photography on their website says that they take a “relaxed” and “honest” approach to their craft. Those two words were the reason why my husband and I initially approached Jessie and Pat for our engagement and wedding photographs. We had looked at other vendors in the capital region and couldn’t help but notice some of the photographers would go back to the same poses for each of their shoots as if the photographs were a mass commodity. What we loved about Pat and Jessie’s work was that the blog spoke volumes about how honest the photography really is. If you scroll through, there are no repeat images or configurations. It showcases each person beautifully and amplifies personality through the photographs. We were further sold on them after speaking with them on the phone. There is no faking chemistry with your photographer. I believe it’s the most important thing to have on a wedding day to be comfortable with the vendors you choose. Jessie and Pat were immediately like old friends to us. Easy to get along with, wonderful to talk to, and true professionals.
The experience of taking the photos with them was effortless! Never having professional photos taken of us before, we were so nervous about the shoot. However, after being with them for a short 10 minutes, we let ourselves go and were able to have fun as ourselves. They would direct us slightly if we were stuck or didn’t quite know what to do in the moment; but we never felt overwhelmed or posed by them. On our wedding day, we never felt like they were invading our space or were coming in at inappropriate times to “get the shot”. They were perfectly folded into the day and kept us on schedule.
The results were magnificent photos, some taken without us knowing that they happened. Magic. The type of magic that allows you to look at the photo and feel the moment again, or if you weren’t there when it happened – make it feel like you were.
You have many choices to make, but this by far is one of the easiest.
Wishing you love and happiness,
SS
