The First Look
Chateau O'Brien at Northpoint Winery and Vineyard is a 45-acre vineyard located in Markham, Virginia. The vineyard's steep slopes and rolling hills, set among the Blue Ridge Mountains, provide a picturesque backdrop for a wedding ceremony and reception. The family run venue, established in 2006, seeks to provide guests with a quality wine experience.
Vineyard Ceremony Site. The Vineyard Ceremony Site allows guests to enjoy the vineyard as well as the ceremony. Guests are seated in a grassy area as the couple exchanges vows under an arbor.
Tasting Rooms. Receptions take place in three private tasting rooms that open to a covered deck and flagstone patio with picturesque views of the countryside. Historic Tuscan architecture is complemented by upscale tables and chairs and decor. The space accommodates up to 90 wedding guests. A Bride's Holding Area and Groom's Holding Area are available.
What You Should Know
The event planning team works with couples to customize their wedding. An all-inclusive wedding package includes a photographer, musicians, flowers for the wedding party and decor and shuttle service between the venue and local hotels. Banquet items like tablecloths and napkins, china and glassware are provided.
The reception begins with passed and stationary hors d'oeuvres. Dinner includes a salad, two entrees and two side dishes, as well as an artisan cake and seasonal desserts. Hand-crafted wines in a variety of styles satisfy any palate. Wines range from premium dry white varietals to complex red blends. An apple dessert wine is a runaway favorite.
Wedding guests find overnight lodging at several hotels that are located about 10 miles from the venue. They are welcome to visit areas of interest in the region before and after the wedding. The Appalachian National Scenic Trail, located in the Shenandoah National Park, runs through the Markham area. The park, though mostly forested, features waterfalls, wetlands and rocky peaks. It is home to black bear, deer, squirrels and many species of birds.
In addition to the park, Northern Virginia offers a variety of attractions, including historic sites, museums, and performance venues. Arlington National Cemetery is the region's most popular attraction. Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum displays spacecraft, aircraft, and other artifacts. America's National Park for the Performing Arts offers performances throughout the year.
