Jay was very professional when we first spoke to him. Once we booked him, his website had everything we needed! He provided very detailed lists of how to pick the best songs and opportunities to be able to add our own personal flair to our reception. He was very kind when greeting guests and played our requests. The dance floor was never empty!

Jay was consistently responsive and supportive throughout our entire wedding planning process. From the moment we signed the contract and began discussing the details, he was diligent in addressing every single question and concern we had. About a week before the wedding, we had a phone call with Jay to finalize event details and our music list. During that conversation, he made us feel at ease, assuring us that there was nothing to worry about. This was a huge relief, especially considering how busy we were preparing for the big day. While there was a minor issue that arose the day before the wedding concerning the USB drive we provided, which contained the music for the reception, Jay immediately contacted us to resolve any potential problems. Since we are not professionals when it comes to choosing dance music, we provided Jay with a rough description of our preferred music style and trusted him to take charge of selecting the exact songs. It turned out to be an excellent decision because most of our guests thoroughly enjoyed the music that night. Jay's ability to curate the perfect playlist added an extra layer of joy to our celebration. It's worth mentioning that our wedding was entirely in Chinese, with some Chinese songs included, and Jay seamlessly incorporated these elements into our celebration. So, don't hesitate to consult with him, even if you're planning a non-English wedding. As this was our first wedding and Jay was our first DJ :D, we didn't have much to compare or reference. However, Jay's service exceeded our requirements and expectations. He played a significant role in making our special day memorable.

When we started to plan our out-of-state wedding (in Chicago), we began to realize it was going to to take a lot of research and planning from afar. We had no recommendations or leads on which way to go with a DJ. However, after finding Fourth Estate Audio the search was over. We got in contact with Jay Congdon and he was very responsive to setting up an initial phone call. After that, we were given the opportunity to meet Jay in person and get familiar with his process. Jay’s process was comprehensive, which allowed us to tailor-make our ceremony and reception with songs that were meaningful to us. Additionally, Jay provided us with online sheets to fill out and an online platform to pick out songs for the reception. Then, about a week before the wedding we had a final phone call to make sure we were all on the same page. This level of organization allowed for a seamless transition from one part of the day to the next, and it was a reflection of how we wanted the day to go. Jay’s execution of the ceremony was flawless and was the perfect representation of our unity. The reception was also a perfect reflection of us bringing two families together to celebrate and dance the night away. Jay kept our guests dancing on the dance floor all night long. 10/10 would recommend!

Not only did our DJ work with us throughout the entire planning process but he was able to change our wedding date last minute after an emergency. He kept the tunes rolling all night! The lighting was beautiful inside and outside of of the lodge. Our night would not have been the same if we didn’t hire Fourth Estate Audio. Our DJ acted as the DJ but also as a coordinator. He kept the party moving and made sure all of the things that we wanted to do were completed. Great value for the price point! Highly recommend!

Jay Congdon was an absolutely fantastic DJ in every way. He is incredibly organized, easy to work with, and provides you with information that is very useful. He's responsive via email and runs a very smooth operation. His forms and song selection platform are easy to use and ensure that your event goes the way you want it to. He went above and beyond when we needed to change the plans- he was kind, easy to work with, and very helpful. He was also sensitive to pronouncing some hard-to-read names, which for me, was a big plus! He was an excellent MC for the night, leading us through our events in an organized and exciting way. Jay was a delight to work with prior and during our wedding day. He made everything so easy for us and if I ever had any questions or concerns about anything, he responded right away! Jay was great to work with. The song list that they have is not super extensive, but he was able to add all the songs we wanted to the list with no issues. It was actually really cool to be able to set up the playlist exactly how we wanted it, eclectic taste and all. He also stuck to our playlist very faithfully and only deviated for specific song requests from guests. After going to a friend's wedding a few weeks ago where the DJ took a lot of creative liberty with the playlist (including playing one song 4 times for some reason), I was really pleased to not have to deal with any of that. Beyond that he was communicative, showed up on time, and overall was just something we didn't need to worry about on the day of. We sought him out because his pricing is so good and we were in a budget crunch, but I don't feel at all like it was a downgrade in quality, highly recommended.

Jay is such a great person to work with. From the moment we connected via phone call 1.5 years ago when beginning to plan my wedding, to the dance floor being full the night of my wedding, he was so fun and flexible to work with! My husband and I had specific playlists to play at cocktail hour, dinner, and the open dance section, and he found and played all of them! He is so responsive and responds w/in 24 hours. if you're looking for a flexible, easy going DJ, who plays exactly what you want, this is him! He even let my uncle (also a DJ) MC part of reception and lead line dances. Guests and family keep talking about how our dance floor was packed the entire night and Jay helped make our dream a reality!

Jay DJ'ed our Oct, 2022 wedding ceremony and reception. He was great to work with, his website was easy to use, and his prices were very reasonable and transparent compared with some of the other DJs we were in contact with. We booked with him after speaking to him on the phone, and he didn't make us sit through an hour long presentation like some of the other DJs. We were able to incorporate some of our own songs on a flashdrive he provided. We really enjoyed working with him.

We loved working with Jay at Fourth Estate, he was always very professional and communicative! We found Jay on the list of recommended vendors at our venue. The music was great and had people on the dance floor all night. The only issue was due to the acoustics at the venue made hearing any announcements very hard to understand, but it didn't put a damper on our evening.

Absolutely excellent. Everything about the experience. He was very attentive to what the crowd wanted on the dancefloor. Jay was able to balance perfectly the songs on our playlist along with the requests from other guests which was difficult with a mixture of 2 cultures. The package with the uplighting made the venue that much more special. He was very professional and knew how the wedding should run for those that don't really know what they're doing. And Jay is simply an excellent person. My wife and I will be forever grateful for the experience he provided. Highly recommend.

Jay not only killed it with the wedding ceremony and reception, but the atmosphere he created with the music and lights really kept everyone engaged and wanting to be on the dance floor! Jay at Fourth Estate Audio was extremely accommodating throughout our whole process, first with some COVID-related rescheduling, and then with some last-minute adjustments to our music plans in the days before the reception. The sound quality was excellent, both for speakers during our ceremony and for the music later on in the evening. Most of all, he provided fun atmosphere and energy throughout the night. I have no reservations recommending him for any type of wedding.

Jay was so great to work with. It was so easy to plan our special day using his event organizing tools. He was available for questions and his answers were always helpful and prompt. Jay was very professional from the start. He has a very easy to use, professional website which makes uploading your music really easy. We opted to actually create our own playlist on Spotify for our cocktail hour, and he was very flexible and allowed us to just share that with him directly. He called us a week before the wedding to discuss the flow of the day, guidelines for song requests, and other ideas we hadn’t even thought of. Everyone LOVED the music and the dance floor was literally packed the whole night. He also did a great job of directing the flow of the wedding, announcing things and directing people when needed. We hired Jay for our wedding this past February and he was amazing. The planning process was very easy and organized. On the actual day the room looked beautiful with the lighting he provided and we loved the ‘your name in lights’ monogram on the wall. We had Jay as the DJ for our wedding in Chicago this summer and he was absolutely perfect. He was so caring in thoughtful in wanting to give us the best experience for us specifically. Jay was amazing to work with! He was by far the most responsive and easiest vendor to coordinate with. When I had to move my wedding due to COVID he responded immediately that he moved the date over, no issues. I figured not many people would be dancing at my wedding due to COVID but people were on the dance floor the entire night!

We wanted a DJ that would provide all the wedding music classics, line dances that everyone could enjoy, all the while catering to the bride and groom's preference for funk/soul music. Jay did just that. He was punctual and very professional! I will add that later on in the night wedding guests made impromptu requests for more modern hits that we didn't get to hear a lot of, but Jay followed our list of song requests and kept the party going!

My husband and I decided to book Jay as our wedding DJ because of his professionalism and years of experience. We are so happy we did. He was extremely responsive with an email response time between 20 minutes and 1 hour, even on Saturdays and Sundays. The online portal allowed us to specify all our music needs and wants for the day in an easily accessible way.

Fourth Estate Audio was absolutely amazing, especially with all of the covid curveballs that came at as throughout the planning process. Jay was a wonderful Dj for our wedding indoors and outdoor. Jay allowed us to pick songs that defined who we are. He found the songs we asked for even though he did not have them yet. I wish more of our songs were played that we wanted vs our guests but we didn't have that discussion upfront with the songs we definitely wanted to hear cause we just did not know or to think ask. We did the uplighting and stars with him and really happy we paid the extra for that service it really brought the room together. Jay did such an amazing job at our wedding, every single thing was so much more perfect than I could have imagined. We hired Fourth Estate for our wedding and they did an amazing job! Our DJ Jim followed all of our direction for the ceremony music and everything after that. We did not pick a whole lot of songs for dancing and left it up to the DJ to read the room and pick songs for people to dance to. Boy, did he do a great job with that! I knew from the moment I had met Jay Congdon, President, that my wife and I had found the right company. Jay was polite, professional and best of all completely accommodating. Jay has multiple packages availed to fit any budget, but all of them looked like the kinds of set up and service you would get at a celebrity wedding! Jay walked us through all the options and benefits of each, but never once did we feel any pressure to spend any more than we had budgeted for. I truly got the sense that his main concern was giving us the music (and lighting!) experience we wanted for our special day. But that’s not all! Jay’s DJ Scott Andree was amazing. For beginning to end our wedding (which was at the zoo, very difficult to set up and work audio equipment there) was amazing thanks to the music selections Scott came up with. Which is not to say you can’t provide your own play list. Fourth Estate can either give you complete control (you can give them an entire playlist for the whole event) or is more than happy to provide their own choice based on loose guide lines you give them. And when it came time to announce the wedding party Scott made sure before hand to know exactly how to pronounce names and to let us know what we needed to do when announced. Again, it was the details like that which made us feel Scott really cared about our wedding. He was the best. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is, Fourth Estate Audio is the best wedding DJ service in Chicago land. Not only are they amazingly accommodating they really do care about you and your special day.

Jay was excellent to work with! My husband and I are so happy with everything he did on our wedding day at the Deer Path Inn on 8/11/19. We really appreciated Jay's service and disc jockeying, and we were thankful for his professionalism, promptness, attention to detail, simplicity, communication, and meticulousness. We were lucky enough to have Fourth Estate Audio recommended to us by the location of our wedding. Working with Jay was a wonderful experience. We met with him once in person before the event, and did a quick phone call right before the wedding. We had no idea what we were doing and Jay helped us so much with the layout of the reception events (bridal party entry, first dance, parent dances, etc) and the ceremony processional. Jay provided us with a USB so that we could provide any special music/audio ourselves. But he had every song we could need already! I have never used a DJ before, so I was somewhat nervous trying to select a DJ for our wedding ceremony and our reception. I decided to try Fourth Estate Audio based on the excellent reviews that I read online. And I'm so glad that I did! The experience with Fourth Estate Audio was OUTSTANDING from beginning to end. Jay responded to my initial inquiry right away, and our first meeting with him was very helpful. My fiance and I really appreciated his many years of expertise and his helpful suggestions. Jay is very professional, and he made us feel comfortable right from the start. The Fourth Estate website made it easy for us to select our songs and give all of the details that our DJ needed to know. Scott Andre was the DJ for our wedding, and he was terrific! He was well-prepared with all of the songs we wanted for the wedding ceremony and for the dancing at the reception, but he was also flexible to change things up when we wanted to. We wanted to do some square dancing and some Israeli folk dancing at the reception, but we didn't know in advance where these dances would fit with the overall flow of the reception. On the day of the wedding, Scott did a great job switching between regular dance music to square dance music to Israeli dance songs, at a moment's notice, and everyone had a blast! Since our wedding reception was on Sunday afternoon and we didn't have any alcohol at our wedding, we were wondering if many people would be dancing. Thanks to Scott, there were people dancing all afternoon! Many people commented on how much fun they had dancing and on what a great dance list we had! When you call up Fourth Estate, you'll get matched with a DJ by Jay. He introduced us to Scott Andree. Scott Andree seriously rules. We’re not big dancers or pop music lovers on a day-to-day basis, so while we knew that the standard wedding playlist favorites would probably feature prominently in order to please the crowd, we were looking for any opportunity possible to play more of the classic rock tunes (Led Zeppelin, Rush, etc) we love. Scott kept our expectations reasonable, made sure we knew those songs are not super dance-able…and then found spaces to play them anyway! I’m not sure everyone would want to headbang to Black Dog at their wedding, but a bunch of our guests had a great time doing just that. We were incredibly happy with Scott and Fourth Estate and would happily hire them again.

The team at Fourth Estate Audio was great to work with for our wedding. Jay walked us through the whole process and was very attentive to any questions that we had, and asked us great questions that we hadn't even thought of (which allowed us to plan to perfection). Scott was our DJ for the event and we could not have asked for a better experience. Beyond playing great music, when the schedule started to slip due to slow dinner service at our event space, Scott proactively reached out to us to see if he should start the dancing portion of the evening. Jay at Fourth Estate Audio was all that we were looking for and more! We booked him for our wedding on 9/22 and have received many compliments since. Our guests danced the entire night! We strongly suggest in booking the upgraded lighting for the reception. It definitely set the tone and made for great photos! Jay was easy to work with and super responsive. Jay was amazing. We found him online and met with him in person, after meeting with him we could tell he was professional and very knowledgeable, we booked with him the same day. Jay's website makes everything easy leading up to the wedding, from creating your timeline, to picking your music for the big day. We loved how he provides you with a flash drive if theres any music that you would like him to play that isn't in his library. We had Jay for the ceremony and the reception and he kept the whole night flowing seamlessly, I wanted a very specific part of a song to walk down the aisle to and he assured me timing wasn't going to be an issue and just cut and faded the music when need be, our sand ceremony ran long and the song I chose was ending but he did an amazing job at looping the music without it being noticeable. For the reception he handled the cake cutting, speeches, dances amazingly and once the dance floor was open he kept people on the floor all night long. We had absolutely nothing to worry about when working with Jay. Highly recommend!!!

Our whole experience with Fourth Estate Audio was outstanding. All our questions/emails were responded to quickly and the value of the services we got was outstanding. Jay was our DJ and he was phenomenal. He included all of the music we requested in the online form and was able to create an environment our guests felt comfortable in to let loose on the dance floor. We were also able to add any of our own music by using the usb drive he gave us. He did a great job working with us to keep everything organized day of and even let us make a change or two last minute. (Thanks for the Star Wars Theme when our ring bearer walked down the aisle!) We had so many people compliment our DJ service after the wedding. We were able to dance outside all night thanks to Jay and the lights that he had available to us. We highly recommend Fourth Estate Audio for your wedding or event!

Jay was FANTASTIC! I don't even know where to begin so a list will have to suffice. For background, we had a tent reception (no ceremony) in a backyard for 100 guests. 1. Jay was very quick to respond to our initial inquiry and follow up questions. We had a Skype call as we live in NY and couldn't meet in person but got everything arranged through the call. 2. We loved being able to choose songs online through the website-- great selection and easy to use. 3. The price! Least expensive that we found! 4. Jay was timely and professional and needed so little from us. He made everything move along at a good pace and knew exactly how to time things. We didn't have a wedding planner and he really took the reins in terms of introducing us, calling tables for lunch, etc which made things leagues easier for us. 5. The sound was perfect. Loud enough for dancers, quiet enough for people to talk at tables. Someone said "I play at a lot of weddings and it's so common that the music during cocktails and the meal is too loud to hear each other speak but this was perfect." 6. Most importantly-- the music! We gave Jay a basic theme for cocktails and lunch which he executed perfectly. When it came time for dancing, he seemed to magically pick the best songs from our list and still accommodated requests. He was able to read the room really well for a very diverse crowd to get and keep everyone dancing. Highly recommend. We had the most fun we could have ever thought possible!

Jay and Scott were great. They made the process of hiring, planning, and executing so easy for us we had nothing to worry or stress about. They abided by our instructions and playlist exactly as we described it and our guests told us the DJ was one of the best parts of the wedding. If your in Chicago and want an affordable DJ that does their job, these guys are the ones to go with.

Hired Fourth Estate Audio for a wedding on 6/30/18. I could tell from the first conversation we had that I was going to hire Fourth Estate. They were extremely professional and helpful throughout the entire process. Every question or suggestion we made, we saw a response from Fourth Estate very quickly. On the event day, Fourth Estate completely delivered on everything we asked for. The music selection was entirely on point with what we had wanted. Would trust Fourth Estate for any event that requires a DJ.

Jay was a class act leading up to the wedding, at the ceremony, and following the wedding. He made sure to play to our tastes, didn't steal the show, and got people out on the dance floor. As an added perk he took some photos that he shared with us immediately after the wedding so we had some fun pictures to look at as we wait for our professional photos. Jay is highly recommended!

Jay Congdon and Fourth Estate Audio was hands down one of our favorite vendors to work with! From the first meeting to the wedding day, Jay was nothing but professional. He was very easy to communicate with and he even had a personal online portal setup for us where we could submit payments, check our balance, and choose specific songs/genres. The one thing that we really liked about Fourth Estate Audio was that we could create our own custom playlist and have our favorite hits played on our special day. Last but not least, Jay has top notch equipment! His speakers were crystal clear both inside and outside our venue. He truly helped make our day fun and memorable!

Jay was such an amazing DJ!! He answered all emails immediately ( I emailed him once at midnight and got a response in the middle of the night!), which is really important when you are having anxiety about a wedding and want answers. He led the entire wedding and made the night super easy for us. Out of all the worries I had on the wedding day, the music was not one of them and that is thanks to Jay. He is super nice and easy to work with, and he knows what he is doing. We wanted people to stay on the dance floor, and there were always people on the dance floor at our wedding!!! Jay did an amazing job at our wedding. He got the party started and kept it going. We were concerned some people were not big dancers but Jay got everyone out of their seats. Jay loves what he does and it definitely shows. I highly highly recommend him. We had so many compliments on Jays music.

Jay from Fourth Estate Audio was very helpful in the process of choosing a DJ. When we finally choose Jay, he was there to help us prepare song lists that met our needs and kept our guests entertained. He not only was just a reception "DJ" but he also helped with our pre-ceremony, ceremony, and cocktail hour music so the guests were always happy. Jay was very professional and even took time to speak with us over Skype prior to booking his services so that we would be comfortable knowing he would be great for our wedding. We were lucky enough to book Jay early for our July wedding - a very busy wedding weekend! From the beginning, he guided us through the process in a detailed and thorough way, ensuring we had everything arranged from bridal party announcements to no-play lists. On the day of, he had everything running so smoothly and the music was incredible! We were especially worried that our dance floor would empty since we had a lot of guests that do not dance at weddings and our venue provided an amazing outside patio and museum to wander through, but that wasn't the case at all. From the teenagers to our 60 and 70 year old guests - everyone spent time dancing and the dance floor remained the place to be! Would definitely recommend 4th estate audio for those who want a lively wedding!

Fourth Estate Audio was the best vendor we had at our wedding. Prior to the wedding, we had our guests submit some requests, and Jay played most of those songs and our guests were highly appreciative. Our dance flour was packed all night, and we had just over four hours of dancing. That's certainly a long time to keep the party going! Also, we absolutely love the equipment that Jay uses. He has a slim speaker that provided sound throughout the entire room. There were no large speakers taking up space, abd everyone, regardless of where they were sitting, was able to hear everything crystal clear. Fourth Estate Audio is highly recommended!

We had Fourth Estate Audio as the DJ for our wedding in Chicago. They were very punctual in getting there and getting set up. In preparation for our event, we had one conversation with the president of their organization and then had a call with the actual DJ that would be at our event the week before. They were very adamant about having a robust playlist of songs, so definitely make sure you have a great selection of material picked out for them to play. We love country music and at one point during the night that was all that was being played and the rest of our wedding guests weren't feeling it. We were able to ask the DJ to change it up and the vibe of the wedding definitely picked up. We appreciated their ability to be flexible and go with the flow. At the end of the night, the party was really fun and everyone was enjoying themselves so we paid extra to extend the party from 11:30 to Midnight. Not a big deal, but definitely glad we asked before they just shut down the party. It was nice again that they were flexible to extend the night by a half hour on short notice though. Overall we had a great nice and it was nice to have someone there to keep the energy of the group up and make sure we had a good time!

We hired Fourth Estate Audio for our wedding on June 3, 2017. We had the pleasure of working with Jay - the main man! From the very beginning, Jay was very helpful in helping us plan our perfect day. The website to add our music was very easy to use and Jay was quick to respond to e-mail and/or phone calls with any questions. The price for the quality we received on our wedding was fantastic! We paid for the package with the uplighting which made our venue (The Morton Arboretum) look even more fantastic during the reception. Jay was prompt with the music during our ceremony, offered great transitions for speeches, and provided lots of fun and upbeat music. For music that wasn't on his list, he was very accommodating in purchasing the specific songs that we wanted for our special day. Jay kept the music flowing all night long during our reception and kept the dance floor packed! Everyone I talked to after our wedding said that the music was awesome and it was such a fun wedding - Thanks to Jay! I would recommend Jay and Fourth Estate Audio for your future event - you will not be disappointed :)

They did a great job at my wedding! Jay was always quick to respond and the price was reasonable. They got my guests out on the dance floor and kept them there! You get to request songs you want played (and those you don't!) from a list of songs on their website, and the song list is pretty extensive. But they also give you a flash drive to upload others in case you want more obscure songs, like we did. I definitely recommend them. Easy to deal with and helped make my wedding just what I wanted it to be.

Jay was very great at keeping a crowd on the dance floor, and accommodating us with any special requests that we made as far as particular songs. He was also great when we had to improvise due to dinner running a little long. He was very easy to work with and I would recommend him to anyone.
