Civil Union, Commitment Ceremony, Non-Religious Ceremony, Religious Ceremony, Same Sex Ceremony
good for those on a budgetReviewed on 10/10/2012 Klara R
Like most things, you get what you pay for. I guess that gos for wedding officiants too. Judge John Laurie was our officiant and he got the job done. Even though he was hard to get a hold of and was late for the ceremony, and spoke so quietly no one heard him. Coworkers joke that we arent really married cuz noone heard him. But for $250, we were able to get married in beautiful Millenium Park in Chicago with our close family and friends on a relativly short notice(4 months), instead of being cramped in a stuffy room in city hall..
Professional, good serviceReviewed on 7/20/2012 Sandra T
The judge provided us with a basic script before the ceremony. Nothing exciting, but we wound up just making a couple of minor changes and it was perfect- we didn't need anything elaborate or drawn out. He will accommodate any vows that you want to write, however. He answers questions promptly, was on time and in wardrobe, gave us helpful suggestions before the ceremony and it went very smoothly. Very fairly priced also.

While our officiant was willing to work with us on time and extras for the ceremony, he didn't seem happy to be there and a little irritated that we were missing some family members at the time the ceremony was supposed to start. The ceremony was beautiful and our marriage license was filed very quickly. The price we paid could not be beat, but if I had to do it over, I'd pay a little more for someone with a little more passion for weddings and personality during our ceremony. If you're looking for a nice civil ceremony without any frills, Judge Laurie is your guy.

Very easy to work with and open to personalizing the ceremony.
