Wonderful WeekendReviewed on 11/21/2013 EMILY B
We had a desintation weekend for our 33 guests. Creekside provided a wonderful getaway that felt very special. From the very tasty rehearsal dinner to the breakfast sunday morning, I wouldn't have changed a thing. The staff, especially Kelley, made planning the wedding from out of town a breeze. She helped find local providers for flowers, the minister and great musicians/dj. The venue was beautiful, we even saw a family of deer on the morning of the wedding. I would highly recommend this site. The food was great and provided by the staff of Creekside. I really felt that they went out of their way to ensure that my guests and family were happy.
Maggie and Rick Wagoner WeddingReviewed on 10/18/2013 sylvia m
Creekside was exactly what Maggie and Rick wanted for their outdoor West Virginia wedding. The venue is not located near our homes and our guest were coming from many different locations. The wedding weekend and accommodations for most of our guest made it a perfect place for the wedding. The property is located in one of the most scenic areas of West Virginia and the lodging is lovely. Our wedding planner, Kelley Sills, was great and really reduced the stress on the parents. The food, the staff and the spa were wonderful. Even with rain on the wedding day, it was beautiful and perfect.
Beautiful WV Wedding LocationReviewed on 10/09/2013 Emily P
I got married at Creekside Resort and Spa in September 2013 and could not have asked for a better weekend. Originally from West Virginia and currently living in Northern New Jersey, I was certain that I wanted to get married in my favorite state. After visiting the venue, I knew it was the perfect place to experience West Virginia’s beauty and hospitality. A major benefit of Creekside for me was that they hosted every aspect of a wedding – the rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception – in one place. Living so far from the area, Wedding Coordinator Kelley Sills was very helpful in planning and organizing the entire weekend. We essentially made all of the decisions via email aside from my one-day visit a few months before the wedding day. Kelley recommended several of her vendors and each one that I used was wonderful! Pat and Debbie at Butterflies and Bouquets did an awesome job on the flowers. Additionally, Paolo Marks, our cellist during the ceremony and cocktail reception, and DJ Josh, from Rick Pruett’s DJ company, were both talented and very professional. Another plus of Creekside was that our guests and we were the only ones on the property that weekend. Several of them mentioned how much they enjoyed the intimate feel of the place and it allowed them to get know each other at all of the activities (rehearsal dinner, the bonfire, breakfasts and of course the actual wedding). The bonfire was so much fun and a favorite among everyone who was there that weekend. Gail and her husband are excellent chefs, and all of the food that was prepared for us was excellent! Creekside is definitely in a remote location, but our guests from all over the world raved about the setting and its beauty. It’s exactly what I picture when I think of the West Virginia hills. Cell service can be spotty for some (although there are several landlines around the resort) but no one seemed to care and they even enjoyed the opportunity to be disconnected for a few days, especially me. A few things to think about when considering Creekside are that your guests don’t get a discounted rate on their accommodations and there is a two night minimum stay. Some of the larger suites and cabins are a little pricey, but those work well for bigger groups who can split the cost. Overall, I LOVED our wedding weekend at Creekside, and I wish I could do it again! The entire staff was very attentive, friendly and welcoming, and they really made it such a special weekend for my husband and me.
Zero Complaints!Reviewed on 9/17/2013 Carly H
We had our wedding at Creekside Resort & Spa on Sept. 7th, 2013 and I have zero complaints! Between us and our guests, we rented out all but one of the cabins on the property for our wedding weekend (there is a two night minimum for guests, something to consider). After our rehearsal we had our rehearsal dinner at the Farm House which has a warm and cozy feel. It started with beer, wine and appetizers out on the patio and then we went inside for dinner. The food was great, especially the flour-less chocolate cake. We had about 38 guests (they have a 50 max) and everyone seemed happy. Next was a bonfire by the creek which was tons of fun and gave everyone the opportunity to enjoy the the surroundings. The cost of lodging also includes breakfast which is done buffet style. They had two different casserole type dishes each day a long with fresh fruit, yogurt and the best granola I've ever had. One of my bridesmaids is allergic to nuts and asked on the of the cooks during the rehearsal if the breakfast had nuts in it, which it did, and they told her they would make her a special casserole without nuts. She told them that wasn't necessary, but they insisted. The wedding was perfect, followed by a appetizers and beer, wine and sangria. Our guest really enjoyed this. It was downstairs from the Sky Room, there is an amazing view of the property and it gave everyone the opportunity to mingle. We chose the vegetarian lasagna and beef with a port wine sauce for dinner, both very good. Especially the beef. Green beans and potatoes for the sides and you could tell both were fresh vegetables. We had Creekside pick our baker for our cake. Gave them a photo and picked our flavors and the baker took care of the rest. We had chocolate with raspberry filling and almond with vanilla filling. We had several people tell us that the almond was the best wedding cake they had ever had. Kelley was great to work with throughout the planning process, as well as the rest of the staff. Rachel was super friendly and attentive and we didn't even have to leave our seat to get a drink or anything during dinner. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone wanting to get married in a laid back and relaxed atmosphere while maintaining the elegance of a wedding. : )
Our Magical Wedding Weekend! 22 June 2013Reviewed on 7/16/2013 Stacey H
We have nothing but wonderful things to say about our time at Creekside Resort and Spa. From the day we booked our wedding date, all the way through to the farewell conversation we had the morning we departed, our experience was nothing less than perfect. We are from a small town in Northeast Ohio, and we were looking for a destination wedding location within driving distance for our family and friends to relax and enjoy themselves for the weekend. After searching through many hotel/resorts that held numerous weddings a day, we came across this resort. What caught our attention first was that they only hosted one wedding each weekend. If your guests stay on site, you can have the entire place all to yourselves. However, what sealed the deal was the beauty and the peaceful atmosphere of the resort. Things got even better once we got to know the genuine people at Creekside. Kelley Sills, our wedding coordinator, did a wonderful job guiding us, and lining up everything we wanted to make our day as special as possible. She had no problem conforming to the changes we made as the year of preparation went on. Everything was very transparent as far as charges, and there were no surprises or hidden fees along the way. We were very appreciative and highly satisfied with all of the vendors recommended to us. That was very helpful since we were from out of town. It was a wedding event that spanned the whole weekend, starting with the rehearsal dinner Friday evening to the farewell breakfast Sunday morning. The entire weekend we were stress free and felt very confident that Kelley had everything running smoothly. The ceremony was beautiful on the Wedding Island. I especially recommend the horse and carriage to take you to and from the wedding. It added such an elegant touch. The reception location at the Sky Lodge couldn’t have been better. We had cocktails on the lower deck while taking in the breathtaking views of the mountains surrounding us, and an occasional deer here and there. Then dinner and dancing upstairs with the night sky lit with tiki torches and an abundance of stars. Throughout the weekend the Creekside staff became like family. Each of them went above and beyond to make our stay such an enjoyable experience that we will never forget. The food all weekend was fantastic! Gail did such a wonderful job keeping our taste buds very satisfied! The lodging there is adorable. We have stayed in a few of the cottages and they are all neat and clean with a good supply of the basic things that you would need for your stay. Numerous guests commented on how comfortable the beds were and how well they slept. Our guests spent the weekend relaxing by the pool, kids playing in the creek, and others hiking the beautiful trails. They couldn’t say enough about the wonderful time they had. One family member shared that at first she didn’t understand why we chose to get married “ in the middle of nowhere”, until she was there, and then she understood. Everyone was sad to leave, wishing they would have stayed just one more day. I don’t think we could have captured that feeling and experience if we would have chosen to get married anywhere else. Truly it was a magical weekend! Thank you Creekside!!
Beyond Perfect!!!!Reviewed on 9/13/2012 pamela w
My wedding experience at Creekside Resort & Spa exceeded my expectations tenfold! I had reserved the entire place for my July 2012 wedding and had many out of town guests ranging in ages from 1 month to 73 and each one of my guests were treated so well. The grounds at Creekside are unbelievably beautiful. Everything is so well maintained from the Island at Indian Creek ( a truly magical place to get married) to the cabins (everyone commented on how well they slept during their stay) to the facilities used for our breakfasts and reception (Farmhouse and Mountain Lodge Sky Room.) And the food! So tasty! At first, I believed I may have thrown a curve ball to the staff at Creekside requesting many vegan dishes during our stay, but I was so pleasantly surprised and delighted at how they took my request as an opportunity to be even more creative in the kitchen! (Thanks Gail!!!) I believe one of the things I took away from this place besides saying over and over how my wedding could not have been more perfect was how genuine everyone is that works there. I felt so much love for the entire staff and was sad that it was all over in the end because I truly enjoyed working with each and everyone at Creekside: Kelley, Gail, Kerri, Mandy, Rachel, Lauren, Samantha, and many others behind the scenes made our wedding beyond perfect. I highly recommend Creekside for their professionalism, attentiveness, creativity, beauty and fun.
A perfect wedding weekendReviewed on 11/05/2011 Sarah D
I do not know of many brides, if any, that walk away from their wedding saying: “I would not have done a single thing differently or asked for anything more.” I have said these exact words ever since I got married at Creekside on 10/01/2011. I have also told people how much fun I had planning a wedding and how great it was to be a bride. Oddly enough - this surprises a lot of people. When prompted what made the experience so manageable (not to mention outright enjoyable) - I respond with: “Creekside, particularly the staff and the location itself.” The Staff: The entire staff at Creekside touched my husband, mother, and the rest of my family and friends deeply and made our wedding weekend feel unique and incredibly special. They were exceptional - patient, kind, professional, and respectful. It was clear that they genuinely cared if we had a good time and made sure to meet all the varying needs of our guests (e.g., elderly, handicapped, food allergies, special ad-hoc requests). Kelley Sills (Managing Director of Creekside and Wedding Planner) actively helped me plan the details from afar. Kelley and I exchanged weekly (sometimes daily) emails and after only visiting Creekside once before - I was able to show up at Creekside for my wedding weekend and have everything exactly the way I described in my emails. Had it not been for Kelley - I am positive I would have forgotten the key ingredients to a wedding. The day of my wedding Kelley took a personal role in making sure first and foremost my husband and I were happy and taken care of - she made sure our glasses were never empty, that things were going as we wanted them to, and managed my vendors professionally. The place: Many of our guests wondered why we picked West Virginia when we live in Washington, DC. My husband is a Chef/Owner in DC and I have to travel frequently for my job. We picked Creekside because we wanted a place where we could enjoy each other’s company and that of our guests. We wanted a place where there was not a lot of distractions and where time doesn’t move quite as fast. Creekside allowed us to bring together the people we were closest to (and who we do not get to see very often) for a weekend away. On a personal note, I would recommend Creekside Resort for any bride and groom who do not want to get caught up in what can often turn into "wedding drama" and who genuinely want to enjoy time with each other and their family/friends. Creekside exceeded all of my, as well as that of my husband and mother’s expectations. Our guests came from Brazil, Wales, Oregon, Colorado, Florida, Oklahoma, North Carolina, New York, and Washington, DC and they all left saying how they would love to come back, how beautiful the setting was (and quaint the cottages!), and - above all - what a sincerely wonderful time they had.
Getting married in WVReviewed on 2/17/2011 Erica S
I got married at Creekside June 2010 and could not have had a better experience. My husband and I looked at many venues in WV for a small outdoor wedding destination and this was our #1 choice. The staff was excellent from start to finish. It rained the day of the ceremony and they were so accomodating about relocating to the deck area. Everything was done at my pace, I never felt pressured or rushed to make decisions or stay on a time schedule. I would reccomend this spot to anyone wanting a peaceful, outdoor wedding destination without losing sophistication and class. My dogs were welcome too and even participated in the ceremony!
Wonderful for Intimate Wedding WeedendReviewed on 10/28/2010 Lindsey J
The entire wedding weekend at Creekside was perfect and exactly what we wanted. It was a great location for our 50-60 person wedding for close family and friends. All of our guests had a fabulous time and Creekside was a perfect place to facilitate the families getting to know each other, spend time together and have a wonderful time together. We got numerous complements from our guests on the service, sincerity and friendliness of the staff. All of our food was vegetarian (except for shrimp at the rehearsal dinner) and our non-vegetarian guests raved about how delicious it was, especially the quinoa salad and stuffed acorn squash. Included in the package is a Friday night bonfire which was so much fun for both the kids and adults. Creekside is very helpful in putting you in touch with vendors and coordinating with them during the wedding weekend. We loved all of those vendors too. The only potential downside is that the bridal party had to drive 45 minutes on the day of the wedding to get our hair done, but that worked out fine.
Creekside was a Wedding Dream Come TrueReviewed on 10/23/2010 Lindsay N
My husband and I are both from West Virginia; however, we had been living in Portland, Oregon when we were engaged. We knew we wanted to come home among the beautiful hills in the Appalachia region to get married. We wanted a place where our friends and family could spend the whole weekend with us and still be pampered, so I looked at several different resorts in West Virginia. Creekside was the only place that had everything we were looking for at a price we could afford (although we did end up paying more than anticipated, but we paid for a lot of our guests accommodations). Planning a wedding from across the country is no easy task, but Kelley from Creekside was extremely helpful and very responsive to my emails and phone calls. My family and I toured the site twice and were extremely impressed. The grounds are beautiful and are the perfect size to accommodate about 50 people for the weekend. Everything is very authentic and it’s clear that Kelley and her family take great pride in Creekside. We especially loved that Creekside is family owned and operated. The Creekside staff took care of us the entire weekend (including fixing delicious breakfasts every morning) and we heard from many guests that they were extremely impressed with the service. We started off the weekend with a rehearsal and dinner (at the Farmhouse) on Friday night. Kelley was able to fit 60-ish people in for dinner (even though the last few were unexpected). My favorite part of the night, however, was the bonfire. This was something I had not seen at any other resort we looked at. It was such a relaxing and comfortable space for my family and friends to hang out and enjoy each other. The kids loved roasting marshmallows and playing in the creek. Since we were all staying on site, no one had to worry about driving or traveling a great distance after the bonfire. My bridesmaids and I stayed in the Creekhouse, which gave us a perfect place to spend time together and do last minute wedding prep tasks. The actual wedding cermony site is really lovely. It’s on a small island (next to the Creekhouse) and is surrounded by the peaceful sounds of the creek. Having it outdoors, where we could see the hills of WV, was perfect for my husband and I, (and it made for some amazing photos). The reception was in the Sky Room, which was a tight fit for our 100 guests, but it made for a cozy atmosphere. The reception food was amazing and also organic! I still think about those mashed potatoes! Kelley helped me find a local minister, bakery, florist and fiddler player, which was very helpful. It was important to us to use local vendors and it really helped make it a true WV wedding. I honestly can’t think of a more beautiful or perfect place for us to get married. The natural ambience was stunning, the resort had a down-to-earth and family-friendly feeling that made us all feel welcome and the services and accommodations were top notch. It was important to us that our guests have a great experience, especially since Creekside is in a rural location and people traveled far to get there. However, all of our guests seemed to have a relaxing, fun and very memorable time celebrating with us. We are very grateful to Kelley and the rest of the Creekside staff and look forward to visiting Creekside again for many years to come!
A Perfect Wedding at CreeksideReviewed on 10/19/2010 Ashley R
My husband and I got married at Creekside this May. I could not have asked for a better experience. From the moment we decided to have our wedding there, the staff went out of their way to make our wedding a stress-free wonderful experience. Kelley took care of everything! She was so gracious and helpful and truly the entire staff felt like more a part of the wedding party than "staff." My mom, sister, and myself went down a few days early (which I highly recommend) to really enjoy all that Creekside had to offer. We all had facials, massages, and body wraps, and I can honestly say that it was the best spa experience I have ever had. Being at Creekside is like being in a completely different, serene world. The service was impeccable, the food absolutely incredible, and truly the happiest time of my life. Our entire family came and stayed at the resort and they made accomodations for my grandfather who was sick and needed extra assistance at the time. They even prepared dinner and delivered it to his cottage because he was unable to make it down to the rehearsal dinner. I obviously could go on and on, but in short, if you want a stress-free wedding in a truly magical atmosphere with the most professional, caring staff that I have ever worked with, you should book your weddding at Creekside. I feel truly blessed to have had my wedding there, and will cherish the memories forever.
