While we had a great time at the rehearsal and were very excited for the ceremony, we were not too pleased with what happened. My husband has a teenage daughter who was his "best man" and we rehearsed a regular ceremony with no special family t...ouches. We hadn't planned on including her in the ceremony since she was to play such an important role. On the day of the wedding, without consent, Rev Herring took the liberty of completely changing what we had rehearsed and added a "joining of the family" at the end of the ceremony. Now, we are all for joining the family, however, he could have done it a little better.... At the end, as we are all three holding hands he stated to my groom " you may now kiss the two most important women in your life". My husband was furious. He completely robbed me of my " you may now kiss your bride" moment! Not only that, all of our first kiss pictures now have my stepdaughter awkwardly standing in the middle of us and our video shows how none of us were prepared or knew what to do. It looks terrible. When my husband confronted the reverend he simply said " like it or not, you are family". Well sure, but I think he could have at least had us kiss her, she steps back then pronounce us husband and wife...but I didn't get that at all. The moment that I had waited my whole life for was not mine at all. I was so disappointed and I can't seem to get over it.
