s mentioned, communication and trial scheduling can be a little difficult. However, they did easily let me add on two more people for services.
We had some concerns the day of the wedding with adherence to our timeline. Carson, the owner was responsive when I reached out after the wedding and did refund part of our fees. We were happy with the hair and makeup service.
The artists themselves did an amazing job, but Detroit Glam was a pretty horrific company to work with. A few examples:
1) When scheduling my trials, I didn’t have a time or location for my appointment until the day before. I also had to reach...
out several times to even confirm a date for trials; something that should’ve been automated on their end.
2) According to the contract I signed, the final payment was due on 3/18 for my 3/25 wedding. On the morning of 3/22, I had to ask for my invoice because they hadn’t sent it to me yet. I was told they’d send it by the end of the day, but I didn’t receive it until the next afternoon on 3/23, *two days* before the wedding.
3) For the day of, the Detroit Glam claimed that if HMUA began at 10am, they would be done by 2pm in time for photos. HMUA wasn’t done until 3pm, when the bridal party was supposed to be leaving for the ceremony! As a result, I was panicked a half hour before my wedding ceremony and only got 15 minutes to take photos with my bridesmaids in the wrong location. It was definitely an administrative error that the services weren’t scheduled to begin earlier, it clearly wasn’t the artists’ fault at all.
Overall, Detroit Glam does not adhere to their own contracts or schedules, which was scary as a bride with no planner or coordinator. It was also just annoying to have to ask about things that should be automated. Again, the artists did an amazing job. All of our makeup lasted the whole day and looked perfect, and my hair even held the curl through the next day! The hair stylist also pinned in my super heavy veil and it didn’t budge all day long. My tip if you like Detroit Glam’s work: book your on-site stylists directly rather than going through the company.

On the day of my wedding I was told hair and makeup would start at 8am. The hair and makeup artists however were told 7am so they were there an hour before we were expecting them. I wouldn’t have minded starting at 7am but we were not expecting them or ready by any means. They also were artists that did not directly work for detroit glam but were freelancers that were outsourced by detroit glam. It would have been fine if I was told to expect this. Also, neither were present for my hair and makeup trial so I had wasted my money on that. The hair stylist had an appointment at her own salon to be at by 1pm (I communicated to detroit glam we were to be ready by 2pm). You can imagine my concern then when my hair wasn’t started until 1:20pm when the hair stylist already made it clear she had somewhere else to be. It felt rushed and not special. Overall, hair and makeup was just okay. I explained my frustrations to the owners and they were apologetic and offered to refund my hair and makeup which I was appreciative of. It then took two months and a few email remainders for the refund to actually go through. Bottom line, would not recommend based on my experience.

nd I requested my trial date six weeks in advance. The six weeks went by and I was never given a time or location. After sending multiple unacknowledged emails, texts, and phone calls, I finally got a text at 7pm the night before the trial to tell me it wasn't happening. She asked for my availability that week to reschedule, which I promptly replied with, and then that text got ignored too. After three more days of no response (and less than two weeks to go until my wedding), I'd lost the confidence that anyone would even show up on my wedding date and had to cancel. They apologized for any "miscommunication" (read: no communication) and said they were very busy with weddings and also working full time jobs. I totally understand 2022 has been a crazy year for weddings and was very patient with them, but the reality is they shouldn't have agreed to do my wedding from the start. They need to either lessen how many brides they take on, or hire someone who can handle communicating and scheduling for them. They did quickly refund my deposit which I appreciated.

after I selected my two dates. I needed to confirm my date since I needed to book travel for work, which I told them during the process. Then they had to reschedule my appointment time due to staffing issues.
As some other people mentioned, the artists who did my hair and makeup trial were not the ones who came to do my hair and makeup on the day of my wedding. I also felt like this kind of was a waste of time and money since I had to show the artists everything again and we had to redo my makeup and hair the day of my wedding.
They only scheduled 2 girls to do 11 makeup and 9 hair services. Both girls showed up late to my location on the day of my wedding, and I was already concerned about timing for everyone and made sure people promptly showed up at our start time.
Jessica was able to complete everyone's services on time. I didn't like the way she initially did my hair so she redid it and I liked it, but it still wasn't what I had originally envisioned or what we did for my trial. Otherwise, everyone's hair stayed in all night and most of the girls liked their styles.
Angelique did our makeup and was behind in completing everyone's services. One bridesmaid saw how far behind we were and did her own makeup so we could get to pictures and the venue on time. I was refunded for that service. Some of my bridesmaids indicated their lashes were falling off by the ceremony or shortly after. Otherwise, everyone's makeup lasted the evening.

I didn’t love my makeup and she ran out of lashes! Thank god I brought some. We were also told 3 would be coming the day of to complete everyone’s hair and makeup from the beginning, only two showed up. It put us behind schedule and we were rushing for pictures. ful. I didn't want to cancel because it was so last minute. The hair stylist that showed up wasn't the same one at my trial. She did a fine job (nothing like we originally planned for it to look like). Despite what I had asked to change, the makeup artist did all the same things (under my eyes looked super wrinkly, no mascara, short fake lashes, etc). It ruined the first half of the day, until I wripped off the lashes she put on, wiped off her makeup, and did it myself. I hope nobody has to go through what I did. I wish I could leave pictures that show what I asked for, what she did, and what I did after I wiped hers off.

Alex did our makeup, and she was accommodating for all different skin types and textures. We had airbrush done, and everyone looked beautiful! They were so friendly, and I loved that they were able to create my wedding look. I also appreciate that Detroit Glam has a more natural look to their style, so I didn't feel caked on with makeup. During the pandemic, there were times I felt it was hard to get a hold of someone with questions, however they were always very accommodating and got things done swiftly!

hem of their mistake days before the wedding and was assured that I would be paid back. Now, nearly two months after the wedding, they still have not refunded me the correct amount and will not answer my emails or return my phone calls. It is unacceptable and beyond frustrating that I am having to chase them down and am being ignored for a mistake that they made (even after multiple assurances they would refund me properly). This is not how a business should be run.
Second, we were supposed to leave for our venue at 2:15, which was communicated to Carson weeks ahead of time. At 1:45, they still had not started my (the bride's) hair and still had my mom's hair to do. One of the 3 hair and makeup artists for our 11 people left with no explanation around noon (was told after the fact by Carson that she should not have left). Because of the hair and makeup team running so behind, I did not get to take any getting ready pictures with my bridesmaids and had to send them on the shuttle ahead of me while I was still getting my hair done. The wedding party also did not receive any lip color or touchups before they had to go, which they were told they would receive, so they had to scrounge up their own lip color before pictures. By the time they finished my mom around 3:30, she had to rush to get dressed and we weren't able to get to the venue until 4:30 (we now had to sit in traffic, which was one of the reasons we planned to leave for the venue at 2:15). We had planned with our photographer to do my husband and I's first look photos, our bridal party photos, our couple's portraits, and our family photos all from 2:45-5:00 before our ceremony (started at 5:00) so we could then enjoy our cocktail hour with our guests. Because the hair team was running so behind, we had to cram what we could into the 30 minutes before the ceremony started and then missed our cocktail hour trying to make up for it. Our photographer did her best but we did not get to take the quantity or quality of pictures with our wedding party/family/photographer as we had hoped or planned. It ended up making the afternoon very stressful, rushed, and disappointing.
As a bride, I relied heavily on these reviews to make my decision on who to hire. Based on both my day of and current experiences with Detroit Glam, I cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone.

I’ve had my makeup done professionally before, and it was just too much and over the top and felt heavy on my face. My makeup experience with Detroit Glam was nothing like that. I could barely tell I had makeup on.
Morgan did amazing with everyone’s hair, as well. I couldn’t decide what I wanted, and all I had to do was show her a couple pictures and she did her thing. Her updo framed my face so well, and she was super gentle with my hair.
Both girls just knew what to do and were so professional. Would highly recommend them to anyone!

Everyone looked gorgeous and very pleased with how the pictures turned out. (Not to mention my hair and makeup lasted the entire night, and through lots of dancing).
The only thing I would mention is that the ladies that wore their hair down, did notice a drop in their curls but that’s to be expected over 8 hours.

When DetroitGlam arrived we decided to keep it in one room and I later found out that because of that, my wife was alone some of the time. Keri and Carson were able to take the natural beauty of the bridal party and simply take it up a notch, making them all incredibly gorgeous, without making any of them appear as though their makeup was overdone. I wouldn't have been able to count the number of compliments we received from the wedding guests, with words such as "perfection", "flawless" and simply, "wow". Keri, Carson and Mary were able to give all of us the exact hair style we wanted. There were playful, high ponies, wispy low buns and Victoria's Secret beach hair. Despite all the bridesmaid looking different, they were very cohesive. I was a bit hesitant when I found out only three artists would be coming to our house to do hair and makeup on 11 women. sioned. I’m so glad I had the trial because my original vision didn’t end up being what I ultimately wanted. I originally wanted a lighter shimmery eye look but I didn’t like the way it wore on me throughout the day of the trial. I also wanted a bit more coverage because I have a lot of acne scarring and hyperpigmentation. On the day of the wedding, Morgan arrived promptly in the morning and did a fantastic job with everyone’s makeup within the time frame we needed. Everyone looked glamorous but natural – exactly what we wanted. She asked if I wanted to change anything from my trial – I asked for a darker neutral eye look and more foundation coverage, and she executed it flawlessly. I brought my own concealer that covers scarring pretty well, and we were able to use that under the foundation. I am very self-conscious about my skin, but Morgan did a beautiful job and I was so confident on my wedding day! The airbrush makeup was very comfortable to wear, and it lasted throughout the day/night even with my oily skin. Thank you Detroit Glam!

I would definitely say that I'm pretty weary about professionals doing my make up because I'm Asian and have a monolid and anytime I've had makeup done in the past, I haven't been satisfied with how the eye makeup turns out because without a crease the shadow never looked right. But Detroit Glam did a super awesome job of working with me to get the perfect look for my Big Day and I could't have been happier with how things turned out. I ended up doing a light smokey eye that made my eyes pop, but didn't look too overdone for a wedding day. Morgan did my makeup and she let me sneak a few peaks throughout the process to make sure everything was to my liking. I also like that they do the full look at the makeup trial so you have time to tweak little things here and there so you look just how you want for the actual day.
Jordyn did hair for us and she did a phenomenal job. I initially wanted to do a half up do but the back of my dress was too gorgeous to not show off and I settled on an updo. The day of she cut my bangs a little to add some layers and dimensions and gave me a gorgeous up do that was super full and stayed put through a whole night of dancing.
Jordyn and Morgan were so great. They did hair and make up for all my bridesmaids and my mom and did a variety of styles tailored to each person. Jordyn did a great job incorporating braids and various styles into the bridesmaids' looks and Morgan made everyone's make up look glam, but not too overdone or dramatic. They do airbrush and it really does give a flawless looking glow. Everyone was super satisfied with the end result. They both are super nice and personable and just felt like extra friends while getting ready. They were both very professional, arriving early the day of, and had everyone ready with plenty of time to spare for extra pictures before the ceremony. I like hair and makeup but I’m not an expert, she made me feel a little dumb at the trial for not knowing exactly what I wanted and showing her pictures of blonde hair when mine is dark brown. I also showed up to my trial with my hair wet. (I woke up late and my hair looked greasy. They explicitly said that hair should be clean). I understand that drying my hair took up too much time and I did feel bad, but I was told 4-5 times that everyone needed dry hair on the day of. I understood the first time she said it and didn’t need to hear it over and over again. Jordyn was helpful and came over when she realized that I was getting frustrated by this.
Overall I would definitely recommend them! There were just some personality differences for me.

On the day of both events it was basically Snowmagedon. Downstate got over 7 inches. I had one downstate vendor cancel on us but Jordyn showed no fear. Not only did they come up both days but they were early, which was so impressive and appreciated.
The hair and makeup services were so good that I had multiple family members add on more services. The girls were incredibly friendly and effienct. They got done SO quickly and yet everything was perfect. I wanted very natural looking make up and the girls both days repected that but suggested just a little more so it would photograph nicely. I SO appreciate that now because I LOVE my pictures and the photographer couldn't stop commenting on how nice the makeup was photographing. I have never felt more beautiful in my entire life than what I felt that weekend and it wouldn't have been that way without Detroit Glam. 10000000% recommend them.

e a particular artist as her style was not my style. Rather than be offered another artist the email back was on the defensive and she immediately said well we will give you your money back and you can find another company. To this I was quite aggravated. We would have paid $1500 to this company but I couldn't simply be offered another artist.
We managed to move past this and I really wanted to give them a try because as you see their pictures are gorgeous..
I showed up at my trail on November 5th and was welcomed. I went in and started showing her pictures of what I wanted. I took my hair down and without brushing it she just started curling it. (The pictures of my desired hair did not need any curling) Finishing the curls she started back combing the crown of my head. (again also not necessary for my desired style) And she started pinning. Pinning piles of hair to my head. In no organized fashion. Just shoving bobby pins in to hold up my long hair. What was created on the back of my head looked like a true birds nest. I should be able to post pictures as they would speak for themselves. Now I could not see what she was doing to the back of my head until it was done for those of you wondering why i didn't say something. Next make up.
She started air brushing my foundation which was the total wrong color. I did not notice immediately. She did and only said something after I said this might be the wrong color. She said "yeah I was going to say something about that" but chose not to until I asked. For my eye shadow I wanted rose gold and pinks... I had showed her several pictures. She began applying eye shadow.. browns and whites... she did not fill in my eye brows the way I asked her to and my blush looked like a child did it. the wrong color and unnecessarily heavy. I have bags under my eyes, always have. I can manage to cover them at home with make up but she used to wrong shade concealer and I could see them clear as day. I told her i wanted a natural nude lip because I did not want color transfer at my " I do" moment. She wanted to apply a fuchsia and so she did. then was i said I liked another color better she said she couldn't take it off because it would leave residue and any other color applied wouldn't be true to its color. ... Really because when i took it off at home it came off no problem.
This entire process took less than one hour. What kind of bridal hairdo and makeup takes less than 2.5-3 hours... I really hate that I cannot post a picture because I've now showed almost 15 people of the monstrosity that occurred on this day and not one person could understand how she thought any of what she did was okay. I 100% believe that Jordyn did this maliciously based on our initial emails that I did not want to use a particular artist. Overall my experience was horrific and I will be sharing pictures on another site. I implore you to use any other company or better yet do it yourself.

It saddens me to know that you did not speak up once during your trial about any dislikes or concerns you were having. Even at the end stating that this was "exactly what you had wanted".
Your email was puzzling and confusing asking if I had animosity towards you even though I had immediately replaced your artist with keri who you met that day and wrote was "genuine and heart warming".
Any time a bride shows this sort of dissatisfaction I always try to make the call to offer a referral to another company.
At the end of the day we want our brides happy, with us or someone else.

Once I told the owner, Jordyn, how many services were going to be needed the morning of my wedding for my bridesmaids, the moms, and a flower girl, she was able to have an extra person show up so that we didn’t have to start things out at 5am – for such a long day, this was amazing. Once they arrived at the hotel where we were all getting ready, all three women began working right away. Cara kept everything moving so as to keep to the timeline. Everyone’s hair and make-up was flawless and lasted all night. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better company to work with the morning of my wedding.

I had 9 bridesmaids, my mom, and a flower girl. Everything went super smooth on my wedding day and they finished ahead of schedule. I can't compliment this team enough. They used high quality makeup and they obviously keep up on all of the latest trends because all of my girls looked stunning. I also want to comment on the fact that it was 92 degrees on my wedding day and everyone told me how they couldn't even tell that my face was sweating. They did a fantastic job with everything, and I would book them all over again in a heartbeat.

They kept us on schedule and took every girl's dream look and made it happen. They were so friendly and kept the mood light throughout the day. , she is the best e-mail responder ever; I honestly think she responds to 95% of her e-mails within an hour, and probably close to 100% within a day under normal circumstances. She is very clear with pricing and trial information. They only do trials on Sundays at a Salon in West Bloomfield, so I booked super early since I live out of state. I did a trial with Keri (LOVE HER!) and got to know her before the day of the wedding. When the wedding came, Keri and Lauren did hair and makeup for 5 bridesmaids, a mother and mother-in-law, and me. I changed my mind completely on how I wanted my makeup after wearing the trial makeup around for a day, and Keri was absolutely fantastic. My hair and makeup were flawless for most of the wedding and she really made me feel amazing. Lauren did hair for everyone else and they all looked gorgeous. Her prices were very fair for concierge hair and makeup service, and include airbrush and lashes. They are absolute pros and flew through 8 hair and 8 makeup applications in plenty of time (despite a small delay from Detroit city construction), and flawlessly handled one bridesmaid that didn’t care for her hair and required a little bit of last minute adjusting. Finally, she allows you to pay either in advance, in cash or Venmo, which was super convenient so that we didn’t have to carry around a ton of cash. I highly recommend Jordyn’s team and think they did a wonderful job.
