When my fiancé and I were planning our wedding there was only one place we considered for our reception and that was Don The Beachcomber. We actually picked our wedding date based on the availability of their two largest banquet rooms – The High Chief’s Room and the Hidden Village Room. The set up is great, one room is used as the dinning room and the other is set up for dancing and has a private bar – which our guests loved. Both provide plenty of space and a great environment for socializing. Pamela Konneker, the Event Coordinator, is an absolute pro, she was very helpful and was able to point us in the right direction. Neither my fiancé nor myself really like weddings so we wanted something that was more of a party and less of a reception and Pamela was able to make that happen. She was also able to include some of the traditional wedding elements that people might have complained about if we did not include but did it in an a way that was unique to myself and my now husband. She was an absolute joy to work with and made planning the wedding easy and stress free. The rest of the staff (wait staff, bartender, etc.) was also pretty awesome, everyone was very friendly, polite and professional. The food and drinks were AMAZING. Almost every wedding I have ever been to the food has been a disappointment, it’s never warm, the plating is horrible and the flavor isn’t that great. You would never have known that the meal that was served was produced for 100 plus people, it didn’t have that banquet look or taste. Don’s served everything like it was made to order, it was plated beautifully and it was still hot when it was served (which rarely happens). Our guests swiped the extra meals up, nothing was left over – everyone was well fed and happy. We still get compliments on how good everything was and I think Don’s has gained several new customers. The absolute best part of the whole experience was that my mom LOVED it. She rarely likes anything and will always find something bad to say – it never fails its kind of a running joke in the family. So when she said how much she enjoyed it, the food, the drinks, the employees, I was really shocked and it made me so happy to hear that. I’m pretty sure this is the fist time in years that she has liked something so much, so I should really thank Don’s for being so wonderful. For any future brides and grooms out there I definitely suggest checking out Don’s for your wedding site (yep they do that too) and your reception.
