Went on 12/15/2022 Elf Night. Drove over an hour from my home to get there. There was an accident just one street from the park and it took an hour to get just two streets over to the park from the accident. Got in the park with my four year old grandson and my granddaughter who wanted to see Santa and Mrs. Claus so bad. That was the main reason we went. When we got to Santa and Mrs Claus we were told that they ran out of tickets and we would have to wait for them to start the numbers over again. They said they would tell everyone when they were going to do this. There was so much noise and so many children screaming and playing that we didn’t hear them. But we went back to them just 20 minutes after we had left them. When we got back up there the girl tells us that there is no more tickets ( the tickets are free and they are just numbers). There were only about 6 people in line to see Santa and mrs Claus at that point ( yes they were still there) but even after explaining that we drove over an hour and that there was an accident in front of there place and that we couldn’t hear them say they were giving numbers and showing her that there were only a few people in line and showing her that Santa was still there, she refuse to let my grand babies see Santa. They lost there home in a storm they don’t have any money in fact they don’t have much of anything. They are staying with me for now. My husband was seriously injured on the job and lost his job so we don’t have much either. But I thought I would take them to see Santa and have some semblance of fun in their life. With just the few people there and Santa still sitting there with the four year old looking right at him and the lady turning us away and the four year having a melt down not understanding why Santa was right there and this lady said no you can’t see him, I think Dorothy B. Oven should be ashamed. If it was a ton of people in line I could understand but it was only like six people. I’m sorry but this was just wrong. These kids have nothing and Dorothy B. Oven ( or their employees) made sure it stayed that way.
Great venue and a great price! We knew immediately that we wanted to use Dorothy B. Oven as our venue and changed our date just to make sure we could secure it. Things to note: there is no ice machine on the grounds. This was not an issue in the least although we were initially concerned it could be one - our caterer soothed our worries! The house was setup perfectly to hold the entire bridal party on the day of without the bride or groom seeing each other. The grounds were beautiful for an early spring wedding! If you use the outdoor patio to setup tables, I can't stress how much space saving we had by doing banquet style seating! We were able to easily seat 125 guests on the 40x40 space. Cannot rave enough about the park but I would highly suggest taking before and after event pictures if you are concerned about retaining your deposit.
The wedding space was perfect. We had both the ceremony and the reception at the same location. We did not use a tent so you could see the beautiful space. You can use your own food and wine (we catered but had Gordo's and bought our own wine from a winery). Staff was amazing to work with. The price was perfect as well!
The park is beautifully maintained and we couldn't have asked for better weather for our March wedding!
This was a perfect location for my wedding. I got married on 11-11-2011 and they were already setting up their lights and decorations for Christmas. They had candy cane lights on the gazebo where the ceremony was going to be. They were so awesome and let us take them down for the ceremony! They were so accommodating and truly amazing from the time we booked the location to the end of the wedding!
We had our rehearsal dinner at Dorothy B. Oven, and it was wonderful. We sat outside on the patio and had the caterers set up under the covered area. The grounds were immaculately kept, and the staff were very helpful before, during, and after our event.
Dorothy B Oven Park is a beautiful location for any event. We rented a tent and had seating outside and the recently expanded patio still allowed room for a live band and dancing. The grounds are immaculate with fountains swings benches flowers and many other features for your guests to explore.;Book early because this is a popular place in Tallahassee!
