This review may be a bit premature, as we still haven't gotten out wedding photos back yet. But I can tell you from the quality of our engagement photos and the professional yet fun personality of our photographer that Edward Fox is worth your ...time and money.
We purchased their most basic photography package for $1200 and received a free engagement session. We had our engagements taken in November at Jefferson Park, which is right behind the Chicago studio. Once the photographer got a feel for our style and personalities, he put us in some fun and interesting poses and places. I paid $300 and bought all 123 of the photos he took. They have a less expensive option where you can purchase just 10 or so favorites.
They let you view the photos in a private room on a very large screen before you buy them.I didn't purchase any prints, just a CD with all the photos on them. The quality of the photos was amazing. I re-sized some of our favorites and put them on Facebook. Then I uploaded some to snapfish.com and designed four different save-the-dates our guests. We handed them out at a Christmas party and everyone loved seeing the different designs.
We also used many of our engagement photos as decorations for the wedding reception. I printed 4x6 copies and put them in black frames for guest favors. They loved them!
About two or three days before the wedding our photographer Steve called us. I could tell right away that he would be fun to work with, but still professional. One of the things he stressed was that he would do what I wanted him to do, and while he would be taking lots of pictures, he wouldn't interrupt special moments for a posed photo-op unless I wanted him to.
My advise is to make a list (and have your parents make one too) of special photos they would like to have taken. I forgot to do this and missed out on a few photos with some important guests. However, when Steve would see us talking with our guests, he would ask them to pose for a picture, so it worked out well.
Our wedding ceremony and reception took place at the same location. After the ceremony we were supposed to travel with our bridal party and the photographer to a nearby park for pictures. But, it was so hot and humid that I just wanted to stay at our venue. Steve managed to find the perfect places to pose my husband and I. He kept us out of the sun, too and believe me on a hot day like we had that was a big deal.
If I wanted my picture taken in a certain place, he took it. If my guests wanted their pictures taken, he took it. Our reception ran from 5 to 11pm. I don't remember what time he left, but I know it was late and most of the guests had gone by that time and I had many margaritas in me :)
Steve was such a joy to work with. He made us laugh and always took two pictures; one close and one farther away. They also put your photos on a website that you can give your guests the link to so they can see and get prints of their photos. Plus, you own all the rights to your photos.
With Edward Fox, your photos are ready six weeks after the event. We have three weeks left until we get to see our photos, but I know they'll be amazing. If they aren't up to my standard (and I highly doubt they'll be anything less that extraordinary), I'll update this review.
