Stunning Venue with Perfect ServiceReviewed on 5/20/2013 Randy W
The wedding hospitality provided by everyone at The Emerson Inn By the Sea was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!! From the moment we were greeted by the Front Office, things were terrific. The rooms were clean, and ready well before the standard check-in time. We were never left without coffee, tea or extra cookies. The wait staff at breakfast was most delightful. The entire place was beautiful. The teams working the wedding, reception and dinner service were phenomenal. The ceremony was spectacular. The view was stunning and everyone was able to hear. The bar service was just as planned. The appetizers were a huge hit. The way the guests were gobbling them down, I'm surprised there were any left for the married couple after we finished all the pictures. But someone had the foresight to keep a few stashed away. Much appreciated. Dinner and the wait-service was top-notch. The food was as good as I remember from our previous visit. Brian and his team deserve special recognition. The food was prepared perfectly and our guests haven't stopped talking about it. Melissa was the perfect person to work with through the entire process. From the first time we met, I knew it would be a pleasure working with her. She is absolutely wonderful and has a very unique and calming way to work through issues when the couple get a bit stressed. But it's also obvious she has the support of the rest of the "Inn". With all of them working together, the wedding went off without a hitch. Not even one of our guests has made a single comment on something that could've been better. That's an amazing feat! PERFECTION!!!
Historic and ScenicReviewed on 12/10/2012 Abbey C
We had our rehearsal dinner at Emerson Inn by the Sea, and our guests stayed here as well. While not the best option for lots of young children, the inn has beautiful historic charm. Our guests truly enjoyed its quaint New England charm. The proximity to Bearskin Neck and Halibut Point State Park also made it an ideal location for our guests to stay and play. For the rehearsal dinner, the food was delicious and they were accomodating to our specific requests. The room was a little on the small side, but it was intimate and private. The service was also very attentive.
We love the Emerson Inn!Reviewed on 8/28/2011 Sharon R
We came upon the Emerson after the Yankee Clipper Inn bailed on us - for no reason other than they could not get their act together. We had to move our 18-person wedding just a month before the wedding date, and the Emerson graciously accommodated us. James initially met with us, gave us information with no pressure, and was warm and welcoming. Melissa, the wedding coordinator, was nothing short of fabulous. She kept in frequent communication with us, made sure everything went smoothly the day of the wedding, and ensured a stress-free environment. The entire Emerson staff were wonderful, from those who served us the wedding dinner to the staff working at the inn, where we stayed for a few nights. Our family members were impressed with the attentive service, fantastic food, and beautiful guest rooms. We can't wait to go back there for our first anniversary, if not sooner. I can't recommend them highly enough!
We could not have asked for a better venue for our intimate wedding. If you're looking for a place to take AMAZING and unique pictures, this is the perfect venue for you! Whether you're going more for classic coastal New England, rustic charm, or adventurous (there are tons of rocks right on the ocean you can climb for amazing pictures!) you will be very pleased with the setting. We also had a great experience working with Candice - she took care of every detail and went above and beyond for us. It was also the perfect place to spend the entire wedding weekend with the family. The Inn offers a delicious breakfast every day, the balcony room we stayed in was perfect, and the town of Rockport had so much to offer. There were even fireworks the night before our wedding! The food at Pigeon Cove Tavern was also great - I'm not sure if they are used for the larger weddings but for our small dinner afterward everyone was very pleased. The porch overlooks a beautiful lawn and ocean so the views are just spectacular. We're so excited to go back every year for our anniversary!
We hosted our rehearsal dinner the night before our wedding at the Emerson Inn by the Sea. Our point of contact was Candice. She was absolutely lovely and helpful throughout the whole planning process. Very professional and helped us organize the many elements of planning a big event. Our guests have not stopped complimenting the views at Emerson Inn! We had a dinner of 50 guests downstairs in the underground dining room. After the dinner our guests moved outside to the lawn and porch around sunset. It was a really perfect setting for a casual, beachy event. Has great New England charm! Not sure how many this space could fit for a wedding but it was absolutely perfect for our rehearsal dinner. Would recommend 100%!

Lovely Seaside VenueReviewed on 5/26/2010 Anna B
I just loved everything about the Emerson. It's quaint and charming, and just far enough outside of downtown Rockport to feel quiet and tucked away. The women who helped us run things were super helpful and knowledgeable, and I loved having everything all in one place. Not needing to hire a caterer or rent all the equipment saved us a bundle, and the rental fee wasn't too ridiculous. We spent a lot on food and wine, but we got a lot for our money. Rockport liquor laws mean it's best to order from their list rather than try to choose your own, but other than that we really got everything we wanted. The weather wasn't perfect, but even in the mist the views were lovely. The hotel even worked with us so that we could squeeze in a few extra guests (we couldn't have a buffet, and there wasn't room for dancing but it was worth it to be able to invite everyone). They were also really flexible about allowing a group my friends to stay with me in my room the night before the wedding, which was fabulous.
