The First Look
Epworth By The Sea is a Christian conference and retreat center that overlooks the Frederica River on picturesque St. Simons Island, Georgia. Opened in 1950, the ministry is owned and operated by the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. The 100-acre center has 12 family apartments, six motels and 13 youth buildings that accommodate up to 1,000 people. The center, which is close to ocean beaches, boating, horseback riding, offshore fishing and other island activities, hosts ceremonies, receptions and other wedding-related events.
Lovely Lane Chapel. Lovely Lane Chapel seats up to 130 guests for your ceremony. It has stained glass windows and is decorated inside and out with seasonal flowers.
The Smith Dining Room. The Smith Dining Room is an upscale pavilion-type setting with walls of windows and a cathedral ceiling with exposed beams and pendant lights. Guests can enjoy a view of the Frederica River and the Marshes of Glynn. The room accommodates up to 250 guests for a seated dinner, buffet style only.
The Blasingame Dining Room. The Blasingame Dining Room is a sophisticated space with a neutral color palette and informal chandeliers. The room accommodates up to 140 guests for a seated dinner, buffet style only.
The Jinks Garden Room. The Jinks Garden Room has a wood-plank ceiling and overlooks the Frederica River and the Marshes of Glynn. The room, which has a private entrance, accommodates up to 56 guests for a seated dinner.
The Pioneer Room. The elegant Pioneer Room of the D. Abbott Turner Lodge has floor-to-ceiling windows, wall sconces and a chandelier. The room, which accommodates up to 88 guests for a seated dinner, is enhanced by a balcony that overlooks the Frederica River.
The Margaret A. Pitts Room. The Margaret A. Pitts Room is a conference room that is available for fine dining. The room's decor includes attractive wallpaper, formal drapes and eye-catching pendant lights over the center table, which seats up to 18 people.
What You Should Know
Aramark, the world's largest food service supplier, caters all wedding events at Epworth By The Sea. Specializing in formal and informal receptions, the vendor provides menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Menus feature modern American fare as well as ethnic cuisine such as a Latin buffet. Menu selections include hors d'oeuvres, carving stations and add-ons such as a sundae bar.
All banquet functions are served with china, white linen tablecloths and white linen napkins. White linen tablecloths and skirting are provided for food, beverage and carving stations. Additional items can be rented. A minimum food order is required. Couples can choose to have two entrees for an extra fee and the entrees will be served buffet style.

We had our ceremony at Lovely Lane Chapel. Such a beautiful and historic location. Do be aware that the rental of the chapel does not include any place to get ready. We rented out the VIP house for the bridal party to get ready and relax before the ceremony.

You can't go wrong with a historic church in a historic venue. Easy to work with, reasonable pricing, gorgeous views! Loved having our wedding there!
