Father Michael Callahan

r late., stating he was in traffic. We suspect otherwise, but regardless you plan for NY traffic on a Friday afternoon. You can imagine the stress on our family and the venue. We lost valuable time and money from the reception. Afterwards he requested full payment, and never offered the bride/groom, or their parents, a personal apology. Rather to the bride's horror ,he mentioned his lateness in the ceremony. Sadly very unprofessional. Sorry I hadn't read a similar review and story on him prior to booking. Disappointed in CT.

hes. We loved working with him because he was able to incorporate some catholic elements into our ceremony, as well as some non-traditional elements. He coached us through writing our own vows, which was our guests favorite part of the ceremony.

rs in their eyes, the ceremony was so touching. My fiancee (now wife) was thrilled with how nice the ceremony was and we were so glad we picked him to do it. He made the service very special performing part of the ceremony in Spanish as well as English. Reverend Michael speaks perfect Spanish. He spent a lot of time before the ceremony talking with us so he could make his sermon more personal. I would highly recommend him.

needs. He was very much eager to get to know us and understand what we wanted. After our meeting, he sent us several sample vows, readings, etc. that we could choose from, and of course allowed us to choose our own if we wished. He was very easily reachable leading up into the wedding and responded quickly. Most importantly, he showed up on time (early actually), and did an excellent job with leading the ceremony. In fact, during the event (it was outdoors) a mockingbird started to sing just in earshot of us which he wound up incorporating into his speech. It wound up being a wonderful wedding, and I have to thank Father Callahan for a big part of that. I would highly recommend him as a Wedding Officiant.

tire service - it was as though we were being married by a close friend. His sermon was spiritual, meaningful and inclusive - he spoke to our family & guests as a source of support to help us through our marriage. We made the best choice deciding to work with Father Callahan. I am so grateful that he approached our wedding as a special and blessed moment and not a job. Everyone that attended our wedding told us that our service was the best they had ever witnessed. We met with Father only once before our wedding but what he gave us will remain with us always. ere nervous meeting him because we have a daughter out of wedlock and we feared judgement, but he was so understanding and even helped us come up with ways to include her in the ceremony. During the ceremony, Rev. Callahan spoke a beautiful sermon that was filled with religious overtones and wit! Our guests commented on his witty stories and said that he really seemed to "get us". We are forever indebted to Rev. Callahan and the wonderful favor he bestowed upon us!

o this officiant was and I found him on the Knot. I wish there were more priests, ministers and rabbis like him who can really speak to people's hearts and make a wedding day so inspirational. My wife and I felt like newlyweds, just by being there. The world needs more hope and inspiration and a wedding is the perfect place to spread that good feeling around and help people to feel hopeful about life. Just wonderful!.

our family and friends remarked how much they enjoyed the ceremony. He was awesome.

e and then he gave us feedback and suggestions for us to work on strengthening our relationship. He was so kind and the feedback was amazingly accurate in describing us. These kind of programs are usually required when you get married in church and I have heard that they are boring, but I am really glad we did it because it was really personal and helpful to us. We feel like we did something really positive for ourselves to build a good marriage. Now Reverend Callahan is helping us to plan our ceremony and we're glad that he has gotten to know us because now we feel like we will have a friend and guide officiating at our ceremony. We highly recommend Reverend Callahan.

that it was just how we wanted. Although it was small, about 30 people, it was so beautiful. His words were so touching and inspiring. He arrived early, took care of the marriage license and everything went so smoothly. He was recommended to us by a friend and we are so glad that we found him. Reverend Callahan is also going to officiate for us at our ceremony in the Fall!

was a different story. I, the bride, was informed by my wedding coordinator at 3:45pm for our 4:30pm ceremony that he had yet to arrive & was running late. She took the lead on trying to uncover where he was, & apparently he was still too far away at 4:30. We eventually had to make the decision to move forward without him as we had no definitive ETA & were facing hundreds in resulting overtime costs. We ended up deciding to start at 5:15, & I made my entrance at 5:30 (an hour late). HE NEVER SHOWED. Not even to apologize and explain. Nor did he EVER call me. I contacted him FOUR times via email before he finally contacted me. The following was his reply "I am very sorry for not getting in touch sooner and I am especially sorry about the difficulty I had getting to Old Field Club on the day of your wedding. I had explained to your coordinator. I don't know how well she conveyed it to you because it was a very stressful moment for everyone, but there was an accident on the Cross Island Parkway where traffic was boxed in in front of me and behind and I couldn't move for over an hour. After it finally cleared I still hoped to get there on time or nearly on time, but ran into some other smaller delays, so it was very unfortunate. After all that, I was about ten minutes away from the venue when she told me that there was someone there to do the ceremony and it was starting. I understand that you couldn't wait any longer and I am terribly sorry about the whole thing. After having been there for the rehearsal, I was very much looking forward to doing it for you. I will certainly send you back your deposit. If you could send me your mailing address, I will send it right out to you without delay." This made me even angrier, as my FATHER was at my house NEXT to the Cross island that afternoon and made it with time to spare. I can’t help but feel like I didn’t get the whole story from him as he lives in Northport, no where near the Cross Island, and no more than 25 minutes away from our venue. And why did I have to be the one to reach out? Why didn’t he do so immediately? If you do chose to book with him, please be sure to have an IRON CLAD CONTRACT stating your wedding is his only commitment for the day and that he will arrive at the ceremony at least an hour early to be sure there are no issues from traffic or locating the site. PLEASE NOTE: This review has been edited due to a complaint from Mr. Callahan to the Knot- he requested its removal. It reflects facts which can be legitimized through testimonials from witnesses at the Old Field Club, Elite Glamour events, & any of my vendors. Please feel free to private message me for my email correspondence as evidence. I am awarding him 1 star as even though he was pleasant, communicative, if pricey, when we first dealt with him, and he did eventually return my deposit (after a month & 4 emails- the last demanding payment), the resulting heartbreak and infliction of emotional distress that is still ongoing for me (in addition to the fiscal issue of the money we spent in resulting overtime), in my opinion fully justifies this review. I just don’t want another bride to go through my experience which continues to discolor otherwise happy memories.

worked with him on the ceremony outline, which he really guides you through and helps you to make it flow. His words were kind, genuine and meant a lot to my husband and me. He was very down to earth and understands marriage and love. We were upset that we didn't get a chance to thank him for everything once the ceremony was over. The photographer took us away and we had heard that he had left sometime during the cocktail hour. He did a amazing job!
