Father/Daughter & Mother/Son Dances
A memorable Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance is a wonderful complement to your First Dance. Including your parents (or the special friends or family members who will be standing in that traditional role) in your wedding dance is a wonderful way to show your love and appreciation. We’d recommend also scheduling a few wedding dance lessons for them, too.

In just a short amount of time, our certified Dance Instructors can help you learn a few basic steps, so you’ll feel at ease and confident on your wedding day. Have something bigger in mind? We can choreograph the whole dance with you – even include the wedding party! There are no hard & fast rules – so you decide on the plan. We do recommend scheduling your lessons at least 6 month before the ceremony (and further in advance, for more involved routines) so give us call today for a consult. Fred Astaire help my spouse and I come up with the perfect first dance of our big day. Started lessons about 2 months out from the wedding. Jerome, Barbara, and the entire Carrollwood studio helped us to be confident and ready for our dance. Highly Recommended!
One of the best experiences of our lives! Yoly was AMAZING. She made us feel comfortable and confident in our first dance. Alberto and Chad always greeted us with a warm welcome and of course a glass of wine! We can't wait to take classes in the future!
We decided to start taking lessons here about 8 months before our wedding to get better at dancing so that we would do more than just sway for our first dance. I'm so glad we did! 8 months was enough time for us to learn (and actually be good at) a 2 minute long routine for our first dance and a lot of basic moves for other types of dances.
Apparently, most couples only give themselves a month to learn how to dance. Try to go sooner if you can, the extra time is so helpful.
We enjoyed the experience so much that we are still taking lessons to stay active.
We were unsure about dance lessons as we don't have any dance experience, but Yoly, Alberto and Chad were fantastic! Between the private and group dance classes and dance party we not only learned our dance, but also had a fun time! Yoly choreographed a beautiful dance that wowed our friends and family! We couldn't have been happier with the end result! We both would highly recommend the Fred Astaire dance studio!
Alberto, Yoly, and Chad are the best!! Alberto choreographed our first dance and it was amazing. We loved dancing here so much that we are still taking lessons after our wedding which was over a year ago!
Maria choreographed and taught us our wedding dance in 5 lessons. Both my wife and I had no previous dance experience. She was very patient with us and helped us make great step by step videos to practice at home. We're very happy with the dance and got overwhelming applause, highly recommend and worth every penny! My fiancee and I have two left feet, however our instructor made us feel confident enough that we were able to be relaxed and had a great time on our first dance..truly made it an unforgettable day!!
my husband and I wanted to learn how to dance for our wedding- turned out he wanted a choreographed dance! Manny put together an amazing routine for us and really helped us learn and master it! the studio is such a fun place to be- it really feels like an extension of family. they really care! I recommend everyone give them at lest a try- you wont regret it!
My husband and I received a gift certificate for dance lessons about a year and a half out from our wedding. We had chosen our song already and went to our first lesson to see if we could learn to dance to it (we had plenty of time, after all!). When the staff listened to it, they told us it would be a Viennese Waltz, which is one of the hardest ballroom dances to learn, but they were confident they could choreograph something for us and have us dancing like we'd been doing it forever. They definitely came through!
We did a few performances during their group parties to prepare for dancing in front of our wedding guests and even thought we were incredibly nervous, it truly did help us to work out the kinks! We continued taking lessons until about 2 months before the wedding, when we decided to continue practicing the dance on our own. But even then, the instructors continued to reach out to us and check in on us, which was really great -- they truly cared about whether we felt confident with what they were putting together for us, and really wanted us to succeed. On the day of our wedding, we were introduced by the DJ and then went right into our dance, which completely shocked every single guest (only a handful knew we were performing, but no one had seen it prior to that day!) and they just went wild!
Thank you to all the staff and instructors at Fred Astaire for teaching two incredibly clumsy people to dance one of the hardest ballroom dances so well, that we totally pulled it off, shocked our guests, AND had a blast doing it!
